Planned Additions
[edit]I plan to add some of the following to this page, when I can-
- Royal commission of 1886 into Kew Asylum aka Zox Royal Commission.
- This is on hold at the moment until I get time to go in to the Victorian Mental Health Library to access a copy of the findings Zox handed down. Shelbypark (talk) 15:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
If you have a request, let me know by listing it here or on my talk page.

Planned lake development
[edit]Shelbypark, do write something on this. The archives of the Argus from 1923 (available at the NLA website) should provide you with enough references, though the correspondance is very back and forth. The Templestowe article should be completed sometime later this month, but there's only room for a paragraph on the proposal itself, and the broader plan to develop an outlying suburb, so it's not worth the effort on my part. Some comments
[edit]This is great stuff, well done to all those involved. I have some comments, hopefully useful.
- "... to house the growing number of lunatics, inebriates and idiots in the Colony of Victoria", is this a quote from the period? If it is it should be in quotation marks and cited, if not I would probably use the modern terminology.
- I have a copy of Haigh, Gideon (2004). "The Madness Of King Harry", Game For Anything: Writings On Cricket. which, in the context of Trott's internment discusses the asylum in some detail and in a general sense. let me know if you are interested and I can add some extracts on the talk page.
- WP:MOSQUOTE suggests double quotes, the article has single-quotes throughout
- Some work is needed with citations; there are entire paragraphs without them. While in most cases I am sure that the material is supported by a citation either above or below, don't assume that the readers (and reviewers) will see that. Use the same citation multiple times if necessary
Otherwise great work. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 22:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thank heaps! I really appreciate your comments as this is my first Wikipedia article. I'll work on these over the next couple of days Shelbypark (talk) 15:14, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Comments again
[edit]- It would be a good idea to have the measurments in both imperial and metric. An easy way to do this complying with Wikipedia:Manual of Style (numbers) is to use a conversion template or Category:Conversion templates.
- What does the acronym NSW stand for?
- Rather than a table an infobox may provide fuller highlights of the article for example infobox Hospital
SriMesh | talk 03:16, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks for these tips - especially the hospital info box. I've implemented them all, and will put the hospital info box on the other pages I've been editing Shelbypark (talk) 10:26, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
GA Review
[edit]- This review is transcluded from Talk:Kew Asylum/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
The article in my opinion generally satisfies GA criteria. There are only two problems:
- 1) The lead is too short. Please, expand it. The lead should be 3-4 paragraphs long according to WP:LEAD.
- 2) I added two {{cn}} tags. Please, replace them with citations.
I will put the article on hold. If in the next seven days the issues mentioned above are fixed, I will list the article. Ruslik (talk) 13:29, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. One of the cns has already been attended to. For the second, I can't find an actual reference other than the actual plate which is on the front of Willsmere. Unless some one can suggest a way to reference the plate (or another reference can be found), the sentence will have to be removed, I guess
- I will work on the lead section over the next week. Many thanks for reviewing the article Shelbypark (talk) 09:54, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- The plate is a reliable source, in my opinion. Ruslik (talk) 10:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- The lead section is now longer and more comprehensive. I've removed the {{fact}} from the second cn as I can't work out how to actually reference a picture on commons. I hope this is okay. Shelbypark (talk) 09:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I am satisfied with how you addressed my concerns, so I will pass the article. Ruslik (talk) 09:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
