"Undisclosed Paid" tag question
[edit]My name is Kevin Kimberlin.
I was recently told by a family member about “tags” that were placed on a Wiki page about me. I’m humbled that people are interested enough in me and my career to formulate a Wiki page. So, thank you. Upon reviewing the page myself, there appears to be some concern regarding whether a person was paid to write on Wiki (for me?). I want to state unequivocally, for the record, that no person in my employ or any outside party has ever received “undisclosed payments” for the page.
I have never worked on a wiki, so I hope this is the correct place for my question: how do I get this tag removed? I’ve read that it’s against the Wiki community guidelines to remove it on my own, I'm reaching out here for guidance because the accusation is unfounded. Any help to resolve this is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

- Hi @Kkimberlin, thanks for reaching out on this talk page. As you are the subject of this article, talking here is exactly the right thing to do rather than editing the article directly, so thank you for that. As for the undisclosed pay tag, it should be fine to remove after a removal of any biased content. Just in case, I will ping the person who added the tag (User:MrOllie) to see their opinion and their take on it. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:03, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- This bio was edited by a few editors who have added exceptionally promotional text to Spencer Trask & Co. I expect that those editors came from the company rather than being employed by Mr. Kimberlin directly. This bio also contains a lot of promotional text - once someone gets around to making the article neutral the tags can certainly come off. MrOllie (talk) 19:08, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'll go do that then. I don't really have anything to do just now so that will keep me busy. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:10, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @MrOllie: does that look ok now? I've removed obviously biased content but also some lines that were giving undue weight to the companies, not Mr Kimberlin. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:27, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Much better, thanks. I just made a few more small copyedits. MrOllie (talk) 21:27, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I have gone ahead and boldly removed the tags now. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 21:52, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
