KSU varsity team eliminated

[edit]

I'm adding the "disputed" tag to the claim that the KSU varsity team was eliminated due to Title IX issues, because this claim may be POV. Carol Cartwright, the former KSU President who eliminated the program, has recently come under fire for suggesting that BGSU's program also be eliminated, now that she is president of that university. (See College Hockey News, March 11, 2009.) There are those who believe that Title IX was just a convenient excuse, just as budget cuts are convenient to Cartwright today to drop BG hockey. Sources should be added to explore both points of view. -- JeffBillman (talk) 02:14, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. When I originally wrote this I said "budget constraints," though I should've had a better source. Other editors changed it to mention Title IX. All I know is that it was eliminated after the 1994 season and it was highly controversial at the time. For now it should just say "eliminiated" --JonRidinger (talk) 03:00, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
