Split

[edit]

There is a clear consensus against a split of Kendrick Lamar discography to Kendrick Lamar albums discography and Kendrick Lamar songs discography.

Support split - Kendrick Lamar discography is over 100 kB, and should be split to Kendrick Lamar albums discography and Kendrick Lamar songs discography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:22, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose – the albums page would be completely unsubstantial compared to the songs page. It would be of no conceivable benefit to split a minuscule albums section from song-related sections that make up the bulk of this page. Ss112 16:43, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply - I would like to add Kendrick Lamar videography to the list of articles to be split from this page. If we split both the albums and the music videos from the discography, the singles discography article would end up just under 100 kB. The singles discography article can then be subdivided when it becomes too gigantic. With years ahead of him, his discography is likely to grow. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:25, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm saying the albums and music videos sections are not worth splitting off into respective separate articles because they are quite small. As it is, the sections besides songs do not merit an article in and of themselves, so splitting them off wouldn't help load times for any readers considering they add very little to the bulk of the page—which is songs. This suggestion is coming too soon. Suggest it in a few years when Kendrick has years more releases under his belt. It seems like you're trying to split this up like Lil Wayne's discography, which is one of the most terrible splits that's happened on this website. Now readers have to navigate five different pages if they want to read about all his releases. That is not the best solution for every page, no matter how large. Ss112 03:09, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Reply - @Ss112:, Lil Wayne singles discography was well over 100 kB, and needed to be subdivided. It is linked properly in the navigation boxes, and was discussed prior to doing so. Splitting the article would shorten the singles article by more than 25%. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:47, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Still disagree; that's not much of a decrease in page size or load time. You didn't get consensus for the Lil Wayne single page split, and there are still plenty of reference errors on those discography pages you are yet to fix. Ss112 16:48, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose – He only had 4 studio albums. Most split discography articles on Wikipedia are for artists who have a very large number of albums and have been making music much longer. AgWoolridge (talk) 18:02, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
