This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more non-binary people. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Many, but not all, non-binary people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |

In the recent edit, You Should Be Here was changed from "second mixtape" to "debut studio album" in the "Life and career" section; it was moved from the "Mixtapes" section to the "Studio albums" section. However, the source cited (The Washington Post) said it is "her second mix tape". The subject of the article, Kehlani, also referred to it as "my mixtape" here. Additionally, BET said: "Kehlani is already making boss moves and she hasn’t even dropped her first official album yet. Fresh from releasing her You Should Be Here mixtape, the 20-year-old has signed a deal with Atlantic Records to bring her newly launched Tsunami Mob imprint to the label."
Please change "debut studio album" to "second mixtape" in the "Life and career" section and move You Should Be Here from the "Studio albums" section to the "Mixtapes" section. 153.160.242.91 (talk) 15:35, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

- What exactly defines a mixtape or studio album? She clearly used a studio, it is an album, and it's even for sale on iTunes. Why does is matter what BET or WaPost calls it? 69.36.89.218 (talk) 18:21, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
It matters because she hasn't classified it as her album. A mixtape is usually a project you drop independently (which she did) as a teaser/mini project for your fans. Eliyar1998 (talk) 19:19, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

On March 28, 2016, at an ungiven time, Kehlani took to her instagram which she had cleared out to post a rant, which was later deleted. Not long after she posted a photo of her arm with an IV and took in the caption her chance to explain what happened. Kehlani had been accused of cheating against her former boyfriend with her current one, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and the pressure was too much, and she tried to kill herself. While that post has also been taken down, for some time a photo of PND by her hospital bed was posted, captioned 'thank you for saving my life.' 46 minutes later it was also deleted, leaving her feed empty, and her icon a black photo. Kehlani said she is okay now, but she is leaving instagram. KT3220 (talk) 19:11, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Display picture
[edit]Hi is it possible that a confirmed user can change her display picture. Her current one, doesn't seem representative of her as an artist. I have the perfect picture. Eliyar1998 (talk) 19:21, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
- Photos on Wikipedia tend to be tricky because they need to have an appropriate license. We can't grab a photo from a news website and use that, for example, because it's almost always copyrighted. Is your "perfect picture" freely licensed to use? – numbermaniac 07:01, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
Potential Career Sub-header: Music Festivals
[edit]I think it would be important to add in the different prominent music festivals, such as The Governor's Ball in New York, that Kehlani has appeared in. These festivals can help display an artist's progression and success. With that said, this can be added to the career section as an extra sub-header, or it can be it's own section on her page. If this was to be added to the career section, it would be best to make it it's own sub-header, but can always be added to one of the two current sub-headers. Also, there are other festivals that she has been asked to perform at, but have been cancelled such as the Sound on Sound festival. All of this would be an addition to the page so there are no changes that need to be made to specific parts of the page that are present. Angeljperez127 (talk) 17:53, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- That's an interesting suggestion, thanks for proposing it! I don't personally think it would make sense to create a separate sub-section for those, but if we can integrate that information into the chronological overview of her career, I think it could potentially add to the narrative of her professional progression. Cheers, -- irn (talk) 20:11, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Mostly white, and Spanish?
[edit]Does the US not know Spain is located in Europe? Don't see Shawn Mendes called white, and portuguese lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.138.225.75 (talk) 01:14, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- That's a good call. "Spanish" is often used to refer to Spanish-speaking people. It's confusing, but there's a good chance that she doesn't mean Spain but rather Latin America. -- irn (talk) 02:09, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
...she’s talking about actual Spain, people—the Spain that’s in Europe. Once again, she stated in an interview[1] she is of EUROPEAN (her words) Spanish descent and she included that in “white”. She is also of Mexican descent but it’s not a synecdoche.Trillfendi (talk) 01:11, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

change “her” to “they,” kehlani is nonbinary 2601:204:300:3640:546E:14D0:B427:9ADA (talk) 21:47, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

"They" pronoun
[edit]The article is a mess in terms of pronouns. At times it mentions a couple and then follows with "they" meaning Kehlani and not the couple, which is confusing. Note: all of her album and single articles refer to Kehalni as "her". She herself even mentions herself that "I don't mind when people say 'she' at all". Feudonym (talk) 18:10, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- No seriously, can we change Kehlani's article pronouns to "her" please? At least I have less confusion on distinguishing which is which. DougheGojiraMan (talk) 02:40, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Can We Stop uSing They For Single Men. They Is Used For A Group Of People Such As BTS. Kehani Is Not A Group So Use She Please. I agree With Doughe. 2600:1013:B020:613:80B2:DABD:8855:881A (talk) 22:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Genre of music.
[edit]They don't make hip-hop music. Other than an interview with a hip-hop publication (XXL) there is nothing that would identify them as a hip-hop artist. All the albums listed in their discography section on the wiki are listed as r&b, the single citation claiming that their a hip-hop artist (XXL) describes them as an r&b artist. It is for these reasons I believe this is an inaccurate and misleading description of this artist and the genre by proxy 49.196.212.9 (talk) 17:07, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
Antisemite of the Week
[edit]StopAntisemitism.org listed them as “antisemite of the week” on July 14. I believe this should be included in the wiki in some fashion as her support for Hamas (“Palestinian Resistance”) is controversial. 153.176.57.145 (talk) 11:50, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
