Name
[edit]The correct spelling of her name is Kavita Krishnamurti (her website shows her name as Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam). Krishnamurthy is an incorrect spelling. I think the name of the page should be changed to Kavita Krishnamurti. How can this be done and still redirected from Kavita Krishnamurthy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.5.134.233 (talk) 09:52, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
Kavita is so much more commonly known as Kavita Krishnamurti/-murthy. I think this page should be moved to that title because the above-mentioned name is much more recognisable than Kavita Subramaniam, unless this conflicts with any Wikipedia policy. Thanks. I agree. She is more known as Kavita Krishnamurthy. --Katari Devi (talk) 23:04, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- True. Since her singing career started, she was always credited as Kavita Krishnamurthy with spelling differences for her surname. This worked for more than 20 years. After her marriage in 1999, some of the movies had her credited as Kavita Subramaniam and rest with Krishnamurthy. She is still better known as Kavita Krishnamurthy. Even her IMDB profile has her credited as Krishnamurthy. So it would be correct to stick to her original name. Please discuss. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 13:14, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]I added an infobox and removed some of the offending info, but much of this article is far from compliance with WP:MOS. --Shruti14 t c s 23:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
L Subramaniam's children - one not mentioned
[edit]The article mentions that L Subrmaniam has 3 children but he actually has 4 (e.g see wikipedia article on him) - the one not mentioned in this article is Gingger Shankar. Pklala (talk) 18:50, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved to Kavita Krishnamurthy. Uncontested, and previous talk page discussion hints at consensus. Favonian (talk) 12:16, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
Kavita Subramaniam → Kavita Krishnamurthy – Since her career started i.e. in 1980s, she is always credited as Kavita Krishnamurthy. After her marriage to L. Subramaniam, she sometimes credited as per the current article name but still she is still better known as Kavita Krishnamurthy. Even on IMDB, she is credited with the proposed name. (Kavita Krishnamurti at IMDb). Page is not allowed to move to the proposed name as page with the proposed name already exists and redirects to the page with the current name. Same has been discussed on the talk page but got no response for more than a week. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 01:40, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Mentioning Caste
[edit]Dear Editors!
There has been a discussion on India Portal related to mentioning of caste of subjects. The point is that mentioning caste of people, who have nothing to do with their caste, is found to be unnecessary by few editors. Hence the caste of the subject person needs to be deleted from the biography. I am not deleting the caste as of now but am only posting this here so that the regular editors of this article are well aware of it beforehand and no edit-wars take place. For details of discussion held on the portal please refer Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Mentioning_caste_of_Individuals. Your views if any are welcome there or even here.
And.... as the reasons of exclusion of caste pointed out were "irrelavant to notability of subject person", "privacy of the subject person", "inclusion of caste is like branding individuals", etc. other information included in the article which also fall under these cases will also be removed after discussions. Examples of it included religion, non-notable spouse's and children's and parents' information, previous occupation, lived in places, non-notability related educational qualification, etc.
Your views on this are also welcome here or at the India portal. -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 10:12, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Not here, please. There is a community discussion taking place at WT:INB and I would advise people to read the entire discussion before forming an opinion because the above summary is incorrect. Nothing more need be said here. - Sitush (talk) 01:54, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
