Misam
[edit]The name "Misam" is probably an error. Sources, where they have a citation, reference "Star Names, Their Lore and Meaning" by Richard Hinckley Allen. That work mentions "Misam al Thurayya" (wrist of the Pleiades) as the Arabic name for Chi Persei, not actually a star but a double cluster now referred to as NGC 869 and NGC 864. The lack of a Chi Persei in modern star maps (e.g. Tirion) and the similarity of a Chi to a Kappa probably led to this misidentification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.222.19 (talk) 03:58, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
