As a calligrapher

[edit]

As a calligrapher, Kang youwei created Kang Typeface as a brand new school. Yyba12 (talk) 17:26, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Supplement instruction about where he was born

[edit]

Kang Youwei was born in Su Village, Danzao Town in Nanhai County. I added the details about it. Yyba12 (talk) 16:51, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The last reference in the refrence list, "The One-World Philosophy of K'ang Yu-Wei" by Shri O. K. Ghosh cannot work now. Yyba12 (talk) 16:43, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled

[edit]

anyone has information about his early life ? who are his parents? what did he do before he became the prominent pseudo-philosopher? It's a good, neutral biography, but not yet complete...

Reply: His parents died when he was very young, and was tutored by his paternal grandfather, who drowned in a flood trying to rescue somebody.

This page needs a good editing and perhaps a photo of the master. Will edit myself. Calligraphy is a Tang poem and quite touching given Kang's life. The sectioned on feminism in the beginning fits in better in the section below. Iwanafish

Courtesy Name

[edit]

In the case of his courtesy name "Chángsù (長素)" how can it be known that it is not pronounced Zhang3 Su4? 59.105.30.30 (talk) 14:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible split of section on Da Tongshu

[edit]

Serotonin deficient 03:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)I added the section on the Da Tongshu a few weeks ago. It now has a length longer than the article on Kang Youwei himself. I believe that it is rational to split off the section on the Da Tongshu as a separate article. What does everybody else think about this? Is this splitting justified? Does anyone else know enough about the Da Tongshu to make it a separate stand-alone article?Serotonin deficient 03:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More consistency in romanization

[edit]

Serotonin deficient 04:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)I suggest that there should be more consistency in the romanization. Everything, except for the surname of K'ang, is done is Pinyin. Either do everything in Pinyin, everything in Wade-Guiles, or note the Wade-Guiles alongside the Pinyin or something to make this article less heterogeneous.[reply]

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 04:12, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence removal

[edit]

I am conisdering removing this sentence from the section on Kang Youwei's death:

Kang's daughter, Kang Tongbi (康同壁) was a student at Barnard College.

It does not fit anywhere in the article, such as it is written. If no one responds in 48 hours or so, I will take it down, and leave it here at the talk page until the article is sufficiently rewritten to incorporate it. Mønster av Arktisk Vinter Kvelden (talk) 04:08, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The delights of Wikipedia

[edit]

This kind of article is what I must call a 'delight'. Look at this beautiful piece of opinion, entirely without attribution: "Kang's reputation serves as an important barometer for the political attitudes of his time. In the span of less than twenty years, he went from being regarded as an iconoclastic radical to an anachronistic pariah without significantly modifying his ideology." Just like that. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 01:43, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's not wrong though. What exactly is your objection? 98.115.255.240 (talk) 20:31, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral Point of View Problems

[edit]

There are a few sentences lacking neutral point of view, such as the following:

"Kang even traveled throughout the Chinese diaspora, supposedly to promote constitutional monarchy but mostly to promote his own self-interest."

Such sentences need to either be rewritten or attributed as viewpoints of particular authors. Gattateo (talk) 08:21, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page is mostly Chinese nationalist propaganda.

[edit]

It's ridiculously biased, and almost anything of note in the article is uncited. It should be locked and rebuilt from the ground up.

Honestly to improve this page I would have to delete most of it. All changes made will be backed up with sources that are actually credible.
