A redirect is in no way a "dead" link. That's a wholly inaccurate characterization. But anyway, I think this redirect is appropriate because of the guidelines at MOS:DABREDIR, which explain when a redirect can be helpful on a DAB page, specifically the second bullet point, which I'll copy here:
Linking to a redirect can also be helpful when both:
the redirect target article contains the disambiguated term; and
the redirect could serve as an alternative name for the target article, meaning an alternative term that is already in the article's lead section.
