Channel 11

[edit]

I have an article from the Chicago Tribune which lists KFMB on Channel 11? (From Nov 13, 1949 does anyone know if this was actually the case 66.99.0.243 (talk) 23:59, 9 July 2008 (UTC)eric[reply]

If the station is known as Local 8, then why is this article at KFMB-TV?? 66.32.252.70 01:28, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)

People ask pointless questions.

Not a pointless question, but it is most definitely one that can be answered with a heaping spoonful of common sense. Mike H 15:51, Aug 17, 2005 (UTC)

Former personalities

[edit]

How come Ted Leitner is not listed? I know that many people do not like him, but that doesn't mean he didn't work there, he is still a former personality of the station.

Also, I clicked on the link to the Larry Mendte page, and it says that he was was an "anchor" at KFMB, but in fact, he did the weather.

I wouldn't be averse to some mention of Bill Mills as the Sun-up anchor before Joey Bishop. Also, I saw no mention of Ray Wilson in "Personalities." (2600:1700:A390:BD50:896B:1F0F:9252:D129 (talk) 01:21, 18 May 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Impending DTV switch

[edit]

KFMB is currently broadcasting at VHF channel 7, In February of 2009 they will switch to VHF channel 8. They used to broadcast on UHF 55 , but apparently that was sold to Qualcomm. It would be useful if someone who really knew what was going on would write a section in KFMB's page about their DTV status, like maybe an engineer from KFMB. Is there a formal way to request a company/entity to update their wikipedia page? Photonwave (talk) 07:11, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further programming explanation

[edit]

Rather than get into a possible edit war, I will again explain why KFMB joins CBS Sports in progress. Although I cannot confirm it, it appears that KFMB has a local weekend morning newscast, then airs the E/I shows provided by CBS. That's why it can't start airing sports until 10 a.m. Pacific time. I live in the media market just to the north, Los Angeles. There, KCBS-TV airs all CBS Sports programs in their entirety. I assume that "CBS2" moves the start times of the E/I shows earlier in the morning to make room if needed. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 04:57, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • According to on-screen program guides, KFMB airs a local morning newscast at 5 a.m. Pacific time on Saturdays. The network's E/I shows then run from 8 to 10 a.m., and then either more children's shows or CBS Sports, depending on that week's schedule. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 18:06, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My KFMB-TV Edits Were Reverted in 10 Minutes

[edit]

I'm not sure why all my edits were incorrect. I mainly added some subheadings to the history section. With so many paragraphs, I thought it would be helpful to break them up with subheadings. I changed a few words around for clarity and brevity. "Located on Mount Soledad" became "atop Mount Soledad." "The station maintains studios" became "It has studios." Some run-on sentences were divided. I added a link for "network affiliate."

Within ten minutes of clicking the button, my edits were gone. Nothing was saved. I posted on 14:36. The revision was done at 14:46. I'm not sure a person could read everything in ten minutes and know that nothing could be salvaged. And no explanation was given.

This can be discouraging to anyone who wants to put in the time to help.

Hi Greg Colamonico, I appreciate the changes you made. The subheadings were probably needed, though not all of them right now (the article needs beefing up!). Mvcg is a longtime editor in the space and does a lot of anti-vandalism stuff, so I can see why he moved a bit too quickly in this case. If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer. Actually, with a few exceptions (such as copyright infringement), everything is saved, in that clicking on View history shows what you added and what the next editor deleted. David notMD (talk) 19:56, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
