History of 106.7 Section
[edit]KLZ-FM's programming format included rock and roll long before the 70s. About 1964 or 1965, KLZ-FM had rock programming from 6PM-10PM on weeknights, making it one of the first (if not the first) FM station with rock and roll programming in the U.S. The rest of the schedule was a simulacast with sister station KLZ-AM (560 KHz). Rock and roll programming steadily took over the schedule, increasing to 6AM-8AM and 4PM-10PM on weekdays for a year or so, and finally to all rock and roll by about 1968.
