Changes made to clarify playing, racism incident

[edit]

@Sabbatino:) Why did you revert the page? It's cited and factual and done correctly. What's up?--Mrohlewis (talk) 15:14, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrohlewis: You should read WP:VNOT and please get familiar with WP:MOS before continuing to make any more edits. – Sabbatino (talk) 15:22, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Yes, I've done that. You may disagree with the need for it but I disagree with your interpretation. Perhaps instead of removing relevant information you should correct the style you disagree with and leave the information. Seriously, please stop harasing me and the work I've done. There is no need or reason for it. --Mrohlewis (talk) 15:30, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrohlewis: You clearly have not read anything regarding policies and guidelines, because you would know that level 1 heading are forbidden (MOS:BADHEAD), you would know not to capitalize all words in headings (MOS:HEADCAPS), not everything has to be included per WP:VNOT. In addition, please read WP:BRD, which says not to restore content if you are reverted and discuss. – Sabbatino (talk) 03:14, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Then why don't you try to edit and fix it rather than delete? I understand that you're a professional Wikipedia editor. However, you're removing a very large issue from the individual's biography and the current cultural movements of the league. If you had tried fixing instead of deleting, you would have found that I wouldn't have reverted it each time. Would you please work with the text and format I created to make it usable in your professional eyes. This amateur editor would appreciate that rather than you're slash and burn technique. --Mrohlewis (talk) 13:09, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mrohlewis: First of all, there is no such thing as "professional Wikipedia editor" since we do not get paid to make edits. Furthermore, you are trying to add WP:UNDUE when you must stay neutral. In addition, why would you split certain claims/statements and move them to a paragraph, which is unrelated to that claim/statement? I will also add that either Twitter or YouTube are not reliable sources and some of the statements added by yourself look like promotional content where Miller is described as "total package", which is not neutral per WP:BLP. – Sabbatino (talk) 17:08, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Why couldn't you respond to any of the points I made regarding fixing or editing rather than deleting? You know what is meant by "professional" editor. You do this very, very often. You clearly make it a part of your life and edit loads of pages and have for years. I'm an amateur trying to add pertinent information to pages that would allow the public to have a more holistic and complete view of the people I've edited. If you can't play nicely in the sandbox with others that are not pros like you, perhaps you want to take a deep-breathe and not take yourself so seriously. This is a venue and medium for everyone, not just those who make it their mission to "clean pages up". And by-the-way, YouTube is a reliable source when it's using a direct interview of the person who is cited. The player's head coach gave his professional opinion on the player and that player, and the public, have every right to know about it. Thanks again for the discouragement and lack of willingness to work together to meet your standards. Lastly, from seeing your user history, you've clearly been warned in the past about harassing individuals making changes to pages and been called out for your arbitrary judgment on what should or should not be in pages. You really make the whole experience of using Wikipedia so much less welcoming and inviting than it should be. Lighten up and let people have their take at it. If you want to change something, change it. Don't delete everything. Not cool. Mrohlewis (talk) 17:25, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Are you going to reply? If not, I'm reverting this back as you have been not just unhelpful but very unprofessional. Mrohlewis (talk) 18:47, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your reluctance to wait for my reply shows that you are WP:NOTHERE. In addition, you continue to go against WP:MOS, which clearly shows that you are unfamiliar with any of Wikipedia guidelines and/or policies, which implies that you either WP:DONTGETIT or just do not have the WP:COMPETENCE to make edits (by not getting familiar with guidelines/policies). Furthermore, you have not raised any points worth discussing. And your editing pattern indicates that you have probably edited Wikipedia under another name in the past or have been blocked for something. I have copy edited what you added but that still gives me indications that you are someone who is "very well" known by WP:NHL. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:58, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Your reluctance to be a good editor and work with an amateur editor is actually the issue here. Throwing around accusations that I've been blocked in the past is really personal and unnecessary. But for your record keeping while attacking me personally, I haven't been. I will continue adding additions to this and other pages and continue to call you out for being such an incredibly hostile professional editor. You do us all a disservice by acting in WP:BADFAITH, clearly showing "Little or no interest in working collaboratively" as well as having a "General pattern of disruptive behavior" as noted by your own talk page. I have been willing to actually "talk" and work things out, you seem to not have any interest in that. @Hammersoft:, this is what I'm talking about. Mrohlewis (talk) 17:36, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You once again show that you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia guidelines and policies. So I think it is best to just stop any discussions with you. I have not made any personal attacks towards you and just noted that your editing pattern reminds me of some editor (forgot the name of that editor). And your "inspection" of my talk page archives just deepens my suspicion that you have previously edited before under a different name and have probably had some disagreement with me in the past. I do not wish to discuss this further. – Sabbatino (talk) 18:00, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Please refrain from the personal attacks and leave me alone. I never had another editing name or page that was banned. Your insinuation that I have is not just disrespectful but personal. At this point, I'm going to report your actions as far up the Wikipedia chain of command. As for my looking at your talk page and seeing how you pick fights with others for no reason isn't about a previous disagreement with you. I have no idea who you are and have no idea why you seem to have such a personal issue with my work. However, my ability to read, as surprising as it may be to you, shows that you clearly have a track record of being unprofessional, unbecoming of a Wikipedia editor and in need of taking it down a notch. And btw, I will continue to make changes to pages. If you continue to revert or change them without talking about it or doing so in a biased way, I will continue this conversation across each page that you attack. Mrohlewis (talk) 19:06, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: Thank you for finally editing in good faith! I really appreciate you taking a more collaborative approach. Mrohlewis (talk) 17:49, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: It looks like the changes I've been making are acceptable! I appreciate you continuing to work like someone who wants to take a collaborative approach. It's so much nicer when we all work together rather than just delete things with no opportunity to have them in the talk section. Mrohlewis (talk) 15:23, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrohlewis: I have better things to do than look at what you add. You should really consider reading WP:MOS and getting familiar with guidelines and policies, because there are a lot of problems with your additions. And I am not really interested to discuss this further. – Sabbatino (talk) 18:06, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Thanks! Looking forward to not having you delete my work all the time as well. Maybe you could try that, eh? Mrohlewis (talk) 18:51, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming you both (at some point) had this article on your respective watchlists. Pinging each other over & over, wasn't necessary. GoodDay (talk) 22:31, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copy changes

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • Change "whom" to "which"
    • Done.

Early life

[edit]
  • Does (MLB) need to be included if it is not to be mentioned again in the page? The other acronym recitations make sense, as they are repeated later.
    • It does not, good catch.

Playing career

[edit]
  • Remove comma after "team rules"
    • Done and moved ref to the end of the sentence.
  • Remove comma after "7 seconds of ice time per game"
    • Done.

International play

[edit]
  • "Miller has represented" — likely should be past tense
    • Done.

Personal life

[edit]
  • Remove comma after "throughout his hockey career"
    • Done.

Awards and honours

[edit]
  • It would be more appropriate in this case to use American English for the header.
    • Whoops, you're right!

Other items

[edit]
  • Earwig catches organization names and recitations of stats, e.g. three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. Not a major issue.
  • The lone image on the page is freely licensed, though it is missing a |alt= tag.
    • Only part of the FA criteria, but added anyway. I am admittedly not great at alt text.
  • References are archived.
  • No BLP violations.

@GhostRiver: Just needs a few copy changes, the type that fresh eyes after nearly two months can catch. Putting on hold; ping when revised. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 02:54, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
