- US Warrant Officers are officers. However Indian JCOs are classified as PBOR - personnel below officer rank, even though they are awarded a commission.92.16.193.87 (talk) 14:02, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think this is a matter of semantics. JCOs (and VCOs before them) are simply the Indian and Pakistan Army equivalent of Warrant Officers in the British, US and other armies. That is to say an intermediate class between Non-Commissioned Officers and Commissioned Officers. 210.246.16.156 (talk) 02:28, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- The VCOs were senior to British Warrant Officers in Imperial India.--92.1.58.142 (talk) 21:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- US warrant officers are officers whereas in most other countries (including UK), warrant officers are not officers and are therefore junior to US WOs. The RN rank of Warrant Officer Class I, for example, is equivalent to the USN rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (though protocol differs). Bear in mind also that which ranks are equivalent in terms of function doesn't necessarily conform to what are regarded officially as equivalents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.220.52.183 (talk) 23:36, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
