[edit]

The picture originally included with this page was that of "Downtown" Julie Brown, not the "Uptown" Julie Brown of the text. They are two different women, namely "Downtown" is African-American whereas "Uptown" is Caucasian.

I've read somewhere of Julie Brown (the "uptown" or "white" one) has Mexican or Spanish ancestry. It's typical for some old-timers in the Los Angeles area (I mean Anglos whose families gone back over a century) to have Hispanic roots, even though aren't culturally Mexican (Californio, but properly called Mexican-Americans). I don't find it anywhere on wikipedia, but I'm asking anyone can verify it...or it's a stupid rumor? San Fernando natives like Ritchie Valens and Paula Abdul are considered Latino, but I read Paula Abdul isn't really Mexican (why she's popular with Chicanos like J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez) and Selena in their community)?, but Ritchie Valens was and his song "La Bamba" shows his Mexican heritage. Julie Brown is just a (stereo) typical valley girl (West Coast style), with a regional personality similar to the Brooklynese, the New Englanders, the Southerners and the Northerners in movies, television and music. Julie Brown introduced the character of what a Californian is, the same way the Fargo movie depicts North Dakota and Jeff Foxworthy's deep-south "redneck" humor. + 207.200.116.133 16:29, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

birthdate

[edit]

Does anyone know for sure when she was born? various sources list 1954, 1958 and 1962. Does someone have access to Van Nuys High School year books? Ace of Sevens (talk) 02:17, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB lists the year a 1954

Really really late reply, but I looked up yearbooks for Van Nuys High School at classmates.com and she is indeed listed as a senior in 1972. Which makes 1954 being her birth year more probable. Though by Wikipedia standards, this can't be used a source on the main page.

Career

[edit]

I deleted the claim that Brown appeared in the "Perform this Way" video based on her statement on Twitter, but accidentally put it as "Born this Way" in the edit explanation. Either way, she doesn't appear in either video. — Preceding unsigned comment added by A Runyon (talkcontribs) 13:09, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2.) What was the Sketch Comedy show she was on in the 1990's? It was like MAD TV and hilarious. It's not indicated here that she was ever on such a show but I watched it religiously and can't remember the name. Please email me any info. bodybolder@hotmail.com

3.) Why is her critical supporting role as girlfriend to 'Shakes the Clown'(Movie), or many of her other roles not represented here? She's actually done quite a bit of work that's not represented in this bio. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0113935/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.130.205.189 (talk) 11:44, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

4.) In my opinion, the fact that she made a movie satirizing the notorious incidents in the lives of Tanya Harding and Lorena Bobbitt needs no citation - the movie has its own entry here on Wikipedia ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_of_the_5_Ft._2_In._Women ) - however, neither the real Bobbitt character Lorena nor the parody character Lenora was a "castrator" as claimed in that entry. More accurately, either would be called a "Penectomist" (but I'm not an etymologist and I don't play one on TV). — Darr247 (talk) 12:48, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Democrat or Republican?

[edit]

I always loved her! It would be great if she did political satire as well. I am sure she has her own opinions and I would love to hear them. Has she done anything along these lines? Did she ever do an interview where she said which way she was going to vote? It would be interesting to have that information. Just a suggestion. Don't hate me and send me more nasty messages OK? Sex, Hugs and Rock and Roll forever people!!!! Have a wonderful day. JRM. --68.118.201.68 (talk) 15:32, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BLP violations

[edit]

I’m editing on a phone and can’t get to the article’s history very easily. Domeone is consistently reverting to a version with BLATANT WP:BLP violations. We can’t make personal-life claims about living people without WP:RS citations. Whoever is violating this POLICY can’t back up his or her claims. That should be troubling to anyone who edits this is encyclopedia.—2604:2000:1382:C5DD:0:E081:BE3B:628B (talk) 04:23, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Of the various people who have edited recently, you and I are the most recent. My changes to the article have not violated WP:Verifiability; that is, everything I've changed is verifiable, and since the sources can generally be trusted, the information is true. Her birthdate, her birth name, her parents, her schools, etc.
If you have one particular example to discuss, perhaps you can start by describing that here, so everybody can learn the specifics about your concerns. Binksternet (talk) 04:47, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The IP was correct. I checked the LA Times source and it didn't have information regarding either her birthplace nor her mother in there. I will AGF that the offline Variety source that you just added does indeed have that info, but they were correct in removing it. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 13:21, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
