Bio-infobox
[edit]As explained previously in edit summaries the classical music projects have a well established practice of discouraging infoboxes, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Composers#Lead section, Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical music#Biographical_infoboxes, Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera#Infoboxes, A large number of editors have taken part in establishing this consensus over a number of years. It would be appreciated if this page is not used for WP:POINT attacks as a substitute for discussions here and on the relevant projects. Thank you. --Kleinzach 10:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
-There are no attacks here. It seems to me that the consensus FOR info boxes is just as strong and compelling, and even though some editors claim there is a consensus on the issue (against them), the jury is still out. A large number of editors are for Bio infoboxes.
I Support info boxes. I truly believe that infoboxes, in addition to the lead paragraph, are valuable and useful for people not familiar with the subject. They can glance at the infobox, read the lead, and decide for themselves whether the rest of the article is worth reading or not. It seems to me that as far as this argument of yea or nea..... I totally agree with Andy Mabbett there is, still, clearly no consensus on this issue. The claim on the project page is bogus. On top of that, Jules Garcin was a violinist/conductor (first and foremost), and there are still many infoboxes on existing "historic" violinists articles. I have created the article on Jules Garcin, I feel it provides the look of a real Encyclopedia (with an info box). Many find that informative info boxes add rather than detract . - Also note that the Musical Artists infobox is for non-classical musicians. It's not for classical artists. --Kleinzach 23:07, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
