Suggestions
[edit]Some points of formatting, and one of content:
- Do not use a date format such as MM/DD/YY. It can be ambigious in several ways. If you want to use an all numberic format, use the iSO standard format of YYYY-MM-DD. Otherwise, use Month D, YYYY or D Month YYYY. Never abbreviate the year to 2 digits. Use the same format thought the draft, whichever one you use. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers for more on this.
- Who describes Wilson asa the "the greatest trial reporter in the U.S."?
- Use straight quotes (") not angled quotes.
- Titles of magaziens or books should always be in italics when referd to in the draft/article.
- Use named refs to combaine duplicate citations. See Help:Footnotes# Footnotes: using a source more than once. (curently refs 7 and 20 seem to be duplicates.)
- You say he was a political cartoonist, but give no detail on when or where his cartoons were published, or how often.
I hope these are helpful. DES (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- More on citations
@Jrptwins:
- http://shs.umsystem.edu/searchresults.shtml?cx=002011585713746245898%3Aancagzvk0d4&cof=FORID%3A11&q=joe+papin&sa=Search&siteurl=shs.umsystem.edu%2Fmanuscripts%2Fdescriptions%2Fwomenmedia%2Fessays%2Fnames%2Fw%2Fwilson%2F&ref=&ss=3088j1335760j11 is not a good cite to use, as it is a database search, and might return compltely different results at any future momenmt. Insteat, click on the relevant document or documents returned by this search, and cite the relevant ones individually, including title, author, and date information as with other citations.
- use work= (or its alias newspaper=) for the name of a newspaper in which the cited article was published. If the paper is obscure, you can use publisher= for the name of the buisness or corporation which published the paper. If this is basically the same as the paper's name (for example, the New York Times is published by the New York Times Co) or if the paper is well known, don't bother to supply the publisher. If there is a Wikipedia article about the paper (as there often is for major papers) the name in work= may be wikilinked.
I hope these also help. @Jrptwins: DES (talk) 01:15, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your continued suggestions DESiegel! Jrptwins (talk) 17:58, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
