Jon MoxleyDean Ambrose – He no longer performs under the name "Jon Moxley" and is now featured prominently in WWE as "Dean Ambrose". Knut (talk) 06:24, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Agreed. Now that he's a featured performer on the main roster, he's much, much more well known as Dean Ambrose. --12.232.28.3 (talk) 15:23, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
I guess it makes sense. But in the same vain, Tyler Black's page hasn't been moved. Plus why are we having this discussion and vote? All you have to do is make a request to an admin to do it if you can't do it yourself. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:21, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

I think Dean qualifies as a tag team champion as the Shield won it and the freebird rule applies — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.79.97.5 (talk) 15:11, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Billed Height

In this article, Ambrose's billed height is 5'11. But according to his profile on fcwwrestling, his billed height is 6'1. While wrestlers are usually shorter than their billed height in real life, it's probably best to follow the official source instead of putting a number without proper reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.130.8.8 (talk) 05:01, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

He is 6 or 6'1 no more than that

New photo?

I'd like to add a new photo for Dean Ambrose in this page. I see that you have the standard picture of all three members of The Shield standing together, except that there's plenty of stand alone pictures on the internet of Dean Ambrose alone. I'd like to replace it with one that I found suitable but I'm not sure how Wikipedia's photo uploading system works.

It's not about having any photo of Ambrose alone - we can't use any copyrighted images, including those taken by WWE. Read this. They have to be of free use (since fair use would not be applicable in this situation). Either upload a photo you took yourself, otherwise the image needs to have a free use license, most commonly from Flickr, a cc-by-{number} or cc-by-sa-{number} like cc-by-sa-2.0 would be good. See the current picture - it has a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic license which means it is free use. Starship.paint (talk) 06:20, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Clarification

Hello everybody. I would like a clarification. I don't understand why the pendulum lariat gets systematically reverted to "Rebounding off the ropes into a clothesline". Now even one of the sources says clearly "Ambrose won with a rebound lariat, like Nigel McGuiness used to do". The Rebound Lariat from Nigel McGuinness is technically a pendulum lariat. In fact the move itself is a tribute to McGuinness. I don't want to start an edit war, that would be pretty stupid. I just would like an answer. Thank you in advance for your attention. Chorus Guy (talk) 01:40, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

  • That's because that's exactly what the reliable sources say. Ambrose rebounds in between the ropes to land a clothesline / Ambrose bounces from the ropes and hits a clothesline / Ambrose bounces off the ropes for a clothesline They don't mention pendulum. Since F4WOnline mentioned rebound lariat, then that's fine as well. We need a reliable source for "pendulum". Looking at Wolfe's page, the source doesn't say "pendulum" as well. starship.paint "YES!" 03:58, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Okay, I decided to change it. First I added a reliable source (PWTorch) to Nigel McGuinness explicitly saying "pendulum lariat". Since F4WOnline calls Ambrose's move the same as McGuinness, it should be fine then. starship.paint "YES!" 04:13, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure Ambrose is using the double-underhook DDT as a finisher now as he used it to finish off Cena and the Miz on Raw and SmackDown respectively, but I assume nobody's added it yet since he hasn't officially used it in any matches? 76.177.159.87 (talk) 02:45, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Correct. Finishing moves are moves that are used to finish matches; if he hasn't used it in a match, it's not a finisher. We'll wait and see. NiciVampireHeart 19:22, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Dean is single

Dean has stated (in person) that he is single and Renee and he is just friends. Out of all the published interviews, he never said that they were together. Never came out of his mouth. In his recent interview (5/11/15) on radio (94.9 Cincinnati), he said he travels alone. They are co-workers. Should they travel together? He said he travels alone. Renee claimed they are dating but Dean never confirmed it because he said he's single all the time.Because He hit a woman over the head with his leg when he got thrown over the barrier in Newcastle on the 6th of November.AJ Styles threw him over.

Is the interview in a format where we can go back and listen to it again (or read it) to verify what he said? If so, we can cite that and change the sentence to be that Young stated she's dating Ambrose, but he denies it. —C.Fred (talk) 23:56, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

There is no interview where Dean Ambrose says that he is dating Renee Young. That interview does not exist. He never said that he is dating Renee Young aka Renee Paquette. There is no audio or video about it.The internet would be full of those audio or video where he claims her but it doesn´t exist a statement where he clearly mentions her as his girlfriend. So no, he is not in a relationship with her. How can it be that it stands in his Wikipedia then? If I say in an interview I would date him would you write that in his Wikipedia too? I don´t think so. This statement "In March 2015, WWE broadcaster Renee Paquette, better known by her ring name Renee Young, confirmed that she is currently in a relationship with Good" has to be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ser1234ar (talkcontribs) 21:49, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Source on youtube [2] at Minute 8:00. The internet website "pro wrestling net" refers to this video and took it out of context. I listened and watched the interview and he did not directly say " I am dating Renee Young." This source is not a reliable source because he did not confirm this relationship. There is no direct question "Are you dating Renee Young" in that interview. He just did not say it. Words, body language and context doesn´t confirm a relationship. This is not a reliable source. To make this relationship reliable there must be another source where Dean Ambrose himself clearly comfirm it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ser1234ar (talkcontribs) 16:41, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

WWE The Shield (2012–2014) Main article: The Shield (professional wrestling)

Ambrose (center) as part of The Shield in February 2013 Ambrose made his main roster debut on November 18, 2012, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins; they assaulted Ryback during the triple threat main event for the WWE Championship, allowing CM Punk to pin John Cena and retain his title.[42] The trio declared themselves "The Shield" and vowed to rally against "injustice". They denied working for Punk, but routinely emerged from the crowd to attack Punk's adversaries, including Ryback and the WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No (Kane and Daniel Bryan).[43][44][45][46] This led to a six-man Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match being set up for the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, where Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins defeated Team Hell No and Ryback in their debut match.[47] The Shield continued to aid Punk after TLC, both on Raw and at the Royal Rumble in January 2013.[48][49] The night after the Royal Rumble, it was revealed through footage that Punk and his manager Paul Heyman had been paying The Shield and Brad Maddox to work for them all along.[50] The Shield then quietly ended their association with Punk while a feud with John Cena, Ryback, and Sheamus led to a six-man tag match on February 17 at Elimination Chamber, which the Shield won.[51][51][52][53] The Shield had their first match on Raw the following night, where they defeated Chris Jericho, Ryback, and Sheamus.[54] They continued to feud with Sheamus, who formed an alliance with Randy Orton and Big Show, and at WrestleMania 29, The Shield defeated the trio in their first WrestleMania match.[55][56] The following night on Raw, The Shield attempted to attack The Undertaker but were stopped by Team Hell No.[57] This set up a six-man tag team match on the April 22 episode of Raw, where The Shield emerged victorious.[58] Four days later on SmackDown, Ambrose made his singles debut against The Undertaker but lost via submission, after which The Shield attacked Undertaker and triple-powerbombed him through the announcer's table.[59][60] On the April 29 episode of Raw, The Shield defeated Team Hell No and WWE Champion John Cena in a six-man tag team match.[61] Later that week, Ambrose picked up his first singles victory by defeating Kane in a singles match on SmackDown.[62]

Ambrose as WWE United States Champion While The Shield continued to feud with Team Hell No, Ambrose simultaneously entered a storyline feud with the WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston. Ambrose pinned Kingston to earn victory in a six-man tag team match, and was attacked by Kingston several days later following a singles win over Daniel Bryan.[63][64] On the May 13 episode of Raw, The Shield's undefeated streak in televised six-man tag team matches ended in a disqualification loss in an elimination match against Cena, Kane, and Bryan, when Ambrose was disqualified as Reigns and Rollins attacked Cena.[65] On May 19 at Extreme Rules, Ambrose defeated Kofi Kingston to win the United States Championship, his first singles title in WWE.[66] Ambrose made his first televised title defense on the following episode of SmackDown, retaining his title by disqualification as the rest of The Shield interfered, and retained again against Kingston on Raw the next week.[67][68] On the June 14 episode of SmackDown, The Shield's unpinned/unsubmitted streak in televised six-man tag team matches ended at the hands of Team Hell No and Randy Orton, when Daniel Bryan submitted Rollins.[69][70] Two days later at Payback, Ambrose defeated Kane via countout to retain the United States Championship, and successfully defended the championship against Kane the following night, when he won by disqualification.[71][72] On July 14 at Money in the Bank, Ambrose competed in the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank ladder match, but failed to win the match despite interference from Reigns and Rollins.[73][74] Ambrose retained his United States Championship at SummerSlam by disqualification against Rob Van Dam.[75] In August, The Shield began working for chief operating officer Triple H and The Authority,[76] while Ambrose began a feud with Dolph Ziggler, against whom he successfully defended the title at the Night of Champions pay-per-view and on both SmackDown and Main Event in September and October.[77] On October 27 at Hell in a Cell, Ambrose lost to Big E Langston by countout, but retained his title.[78] Tension began brewing among The Shield in October, especially between Ambrose and Reigns as Ambrose was the only member left with a championship.[79] At Survivor Series, The Shield participated in a traditional Survivor Series match; Ambrose was the first man eliminated while Reigns won the match as the sole survivor.[80] At TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, CM Punk defeated The Shield in a handicap match after Ambrose received a Reigns spear aimed for Punk.[81] At the Royal Rumble, The Shield participated in the Rumble match; Ambrose eliminated three wrestlers and tried to eliminate Reigns, who retaliated by eliminating both Ambrose and Rollins.[82][83] In February 2014, Ambrose retained the championship against Mark Henry with a disqualification loss;[84] a rematch in March yielded a pinfall victory for Ambrose.[85] Also in February, The Shield lost to The Wyatt Family at Elimination Chamber with Ambrose absent during the finish of the match.[86] Despite more tension, The Shield reconciled in March.[87][88]

The Shield in April 2014 Later in March, The Shield began a feud with Kane, turning them into fan favorite characters,[89][90] and resulting in The Shield defeating Kane and The New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania XXX.[91] The Shield next turned on Triple H,[92] who reformed Evolution with Batista and Randy Orton to take on The Shield.[93] On April 28, Ambrose surpassed Montel Vontavious Porter as the longest reigning United States Champion under the WWE banner.[94] On the May 2 episode of SmackDown, Ambrose retained his title in a four-way match against Alberto Del Rio, Curtis Axel, and Ryback.[95] As part of their feud with Evolution, The Shield won a six-man tag team match at Extreme Rules.[96] The following night on Raw, Triple H forced Ambrose to defend his championship in a 20-man battle royal with Rollins and Reigns not part of the match; Ambrose survived until the final two but lost to Sheamus, ending Ambrose's record title reign at 351 days.[97][98] On the next SmackDown, Ambrose failed to regain the championship in a singles match against Sheamus. The Shield once again defeated Evolution at Payback, prompting Triple H to initiate "Plan B".[99] This involved Rollins turning on Ambrose and Reigns, subsequently aligning himself with Triple H.

Ambrose promptly began feuding with Seth Rollins, which included Rollins costing Ambrose a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank and the duo attacking each other.[101] During this period Ambrose and Reigns quietly separated as a team, with Ambrose debuting new ring attire and new entrance music.[102] After being added to the Money in the Bank ladder match at Money in the Bank at Rollins' request, Ambrose lost the match when Kane attacked him and helped Rollins win.[103] Ambrose was scheduled to face Rollins at Battleground, but Ambrose was ejected from the arena by Triple H for fighting with Rollins backstage. Rollins subsequently announced that he had won their match by forfeit, prompting Ambrose to return to the arena and attack Rollins. Ambrose and Rollins eventually wrestled at SummerSlam in a Lumberjack match, which Ambrose lost with assistance from Kane.[104] Ambrose attacked Rollins again the following night, causing them to face off in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Rollins won by knockout when Ambrose was attacked by Kane and subsequently had his head driven through a pile of cinderblocks by Rollins; he was stretchered out of the arena.[105] The storyline was put to place to explain Ambrose's absence from television while filming Lockdown. He returned at Night of Champions on September 21, attacking Rollins.[106] Following weeks of Ambrose attacking Rollins, the duo faced off in a Hell in a Cell match at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in October; Rollins won the match when Ambrose was attacked by Bray Wyatt.[107]

The next few weeks saw Ambrose and Wyatt taunting and attacking each other in both backstage and in-ring segments, with Wyatt claiming that he could "fix" Ambrose, leading to a match at Survivor Series.[108][109] Ambrose lost the match by disqualification after utilizing steel chairs, including a table.[110] This led to a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match between the two at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December. During the match, a television monitor blew up in Ambrose's face, allowing Wyatt to win the match.[111] Ambrose managed to beat Wyatt in a Boot Camp match but yet again was defeated by Wyatt in a Street Fight. The feud concluded when Wyatt beat Ambrose in the first Ambulance match held on Raw.[112] Ambrose's booking during his feuds with Rollins and Wyatt was criticized by commentators, including James Caldwell of the Pro Wrestling Torch, who stated that although "he's a utility main-eventer" his lack of victories indicated that he was not a guy WWE was positioning "for a 2–3 year sustained run on top".[113] On the January 19 episode of Raw, Ambrose defeated Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett.[114] At the Royal Rumble, Ambrose participated in the Royal Rumble match, but was eliminated by Kane and Big Show.[115] The following weeks, Ambrose demanded a match for Barrett's title, but Barrett declined, leading to Ambrose attacking him, tying his hands around the ring post, and forcing him to sign a contract for a title match at Fastlane; Ambrose lost the subsequent match by disqualification, but stole the championship belt afterward.[116][117] At WrestleMania 31, Ambrose participated in a seven-man ladder match for the championship, but lost after Luke Harper powerbombed him through a ladder and knocked him out of the match as result.[118] On the April 2 episode of SmackDown, Ambrose fought Luke Harper to a no contest after Harper put Ambrose through a table.[119] On the April 13 episode of Raw, Ambrose attacked Harper after Harper lost to Ryback by disqualification.[120] On the April 20 episode of Raw, Ambrose and Harper once again fought to a no contest.[121] At Extreme Rules, Ambrose defeated Harper in his first singles victory on pay-per-view since the Shield split up.[122] The next day on Raw, Ambrose was in the King of the Ring tournament, but did not make it to the second round after Dolph Ziggler attacked Dean's opponent Sheamus. On the May 4 episode of Raw, Ambrose defeated the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, and as per pre-stipulation by Kane, Ambrose was added to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Payback, a fatal four-way match also including Randy Orton and Roman Reigns, and Ambrose's first opportunity for a world title.[123] However, at the event, Ambrose failed to win the title.[124] He also failed at Elimination Chamber as, while he won the match, it was via disqualification, thus Rollins retained once more.[125] Despite the loss, Ambrose took the championship with him and challenged Rollins in a ladder match at Money in the Bank which he lost. Dean Ambrose's moves and nicknames

Dean Ambrose has been using a simple cross legged STF in his matches (not the Regal Stretch which he used to do in FCW). He has also done Figure-four leglock and Sharpshooter on Triple H at Roadblock. Another one is the low blow which I have seen him do three times; one on CM Punk and two on Lesnar. Dean has two nicknames which are not a part of this list i.e. "Unstable" and "The Self-Professed Iron Man of WWE" I would appreciate if these suggestions are added to the page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K59TeS7lQA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fy3TzK3U7s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5SfPcAzqO0

Dean Ambrose's billed height is 6'4 according to WWE's official website. Why does this page have 6'1? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.178.84.248 (talk) 14:09, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Moves not listed

Many of Dean's moves from his Jon Moxley days are not listed here. That include an Electric chair driver, figure four leglock, figure four headlock/necklock, release suplex. The vidoes are all over Youtube. Dean Ambrose constantly used a spinebuster and a sitout reverse suplex slam during his FCW days to 2014. He also has started to use a snap neckbreaker from the past two weeks. I request to look into it and add these moves to his movelist. Thankyou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.50.146.41 (talk) 17:04, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

interwiki to the german article

The german interwiki should be "Dean Ambrose", not "Carsten Schäfer". Anmelden-erstellen (talk) 08:50, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

I agree. The Wikidata looks correct. I purged the article, but it's still wrong. Anybody see where this is coming from? —C.Fred (talk) 15:40, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
Found it. It was an issue with a link in a template. —C.Fred (talk) 16:48, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Much of Good's wrestling persona is based on his own real-life upbringing in Cincinnati's East End, where he spent much of his childhood in public housing.[please change where it says that dean ambrose grew up in Cincinnati's east end to dean ambrose grew up on Cincinnati's east side because he didn't grow up in the neighborhood of east end and grew up on the east side of Cincinnati. I grew up with him and know him personally and that part is inaccurate.] He attended Amelia high school and wrestled and played football. Moongoose1983 (talk) 06:35, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Marriage

Can someone please edit the year he and Renee got married to 2017? It's been confirmed by WWE that they got married on April 9th 2017 and Renee also confirmed on her podcast this week that they're newlyweds. Laura J (talk) 06:51, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

In the box on the right side of the page, it lists Dean's residence as Birmingham, AL...Dean lives in Las Vegas, NV not Birmingham/ CarolinaSunshine (talk) 05:52, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

@CarolinaSunshine: He is currently in Birmingham because of his injury. He had surgery there and has done rehab there as well. The source used is not reliable mind you. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 07:23, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
Note: Closing edit request based on the above. Although, if he is there for rehabilitation purposes, that may constitute temporary residency so his permanent residency would be elsewhere. It would still need to have a reliable source. st170e 10:14, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

What happened to Dean's finishers and signatures? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.15.20.234 (talk) 21:23, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Titty Master

Even if it was not recognized yet promoted by WWE (as their PG policy probably), Ambrose was also called as Titty Master after a fan sign during a Shield entrance. I think it's notable enough and worth to be mentioned on the article OnurT 10:29, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

It was never promoted by the WWE. It's not going in the article. It will just be reverted if you do add it. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 15:42, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
