Recent Updates
[edit]The University has changed quite a bit since this article was last updated. It became necessary for us to go in and update it. Since the University of Tennessee has way more historical information and other items than we seem to have or be allowed by "self appointed" moderators on an open source encyclopedia. 12.90.237.218 (talk) 01:43, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- As a "staffer of the University [sic]" you should not be editing this article. But you are welcome to make suggestions and requests here in Talk! ElKevbo (talk) 01:55, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am not a paid staffer. You who don't like these edits keep moving the goalpost on the information. An alumnus was barred from making changes to our site and now a staffer cannot make changes. As an open-source encyclopedia who gives you the right to say who can and cannot make changes to a page. Especially if it is verifiable. 12.90.237.218 (talk) 02:07, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I gave your edit a quick skim and I think much of it looks salvageable if you can provide some supporting sources. That same skim also revealed some content that is definitely promotional. Wording like "beacon of faith-based education," and "Throughout its illustrious 130-year journey, Johnson University has stood out for its remarkable stability" is totally inaproppriate for an encyclopedia article. - Updated and noted and modified. 12.90.237.218 (talk) 02:09, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Squeakachu: If you would like to take responsibility for this editor's edits then you are welcome to do so. But it's not appropriate or acceptable to encourage an editor with a clear conflict of interest, especially one that is likely logged out to avoid further scrutiny under their regular account. WP:PAID is not an optional policy - it's part of the projects terms of service. (I've also opened a discussion at WP:COIN about this issue.) ElKevbo (talk) 02:18, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- The edits do not reflect any of your above concerns. Just cause someone does not like the edits does not make it a violation of the TOC or any other made up conditions of an open-source encyclopedia. 12.90.237.218 (talk) 02:29, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- You're right, I'm sorry. I didn't spend enough time looking at this. The COI aspect was obvious (and I should have been clear about them providing supporting sources here on the talk page rather than continuing to edit), but I didn't note the issue with Etittle1978. The logged out editing or meatpuppetry is beyond the pale. Squeakachu (talk) 02:39, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- And now they've edited their earlier comment where they claimed to be a staffer, and they've posted the same absurd defense that Etittle1978 posted on their talk page a few days ago. Not subtle. IP/Etittle, you need to log in to your account, fully disclose your affiliation with the school, and stop editing this article. Squeakachu (talk) 02:50, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
