[edit]Interesting Trivia
John Scott is the current point of acknowledged direct male descent from Charles II;
- Charles II Stuart, King of Great Britain
and is therefore one candidate for the 'true' monarch of the United Kingdom chrisboote 14:00, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Actually he isn't a "candidate for the 'true' monarch". Aside from the fact that the Act of Settlement 1701 governs the succession of the throne, the Duke of Monmouth and Buccleuch was a bastard. Craigy (talk) 18:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- That's one of the contended stories: Monmouth claimed he wasn't a bastard as according to him his father an mother had married during Charles' exile. And upon this claim he stooled his rebellion. No prove of such marriage was ever found, but if Monmouth was right, he would indeed have been the legitimate heir to the throne. -- fdewaele, 21 September 2014, 22:05 CET
