[edit]I think recent work upgrades this to at least Start class, maybe even B? Biscit (talk) 14:58, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I can not see any more can be done, so would also say move it to class B. Photo would be good though. Will try and get one. Anappleadaykeepsthedocaway (talk) 03:00, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Requested move 15 May 2015
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Robofish and Dtellett offer good arguments for why the subject should be considered the primary topic and they have not been rebutted. Jenks24 (talk) 04:31, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
– No clear primary topic at John Pugh (disambiguation). There are other politicians of this name (one Canadian, one Welsh, one Pennsylvanian), so "politician" and "British politician" are incomplete disambiguators. "Liberal Democrat politician" seems like the most recognisable disambiguator, but "Southport politician" would work too. --Relisted. - Or John Pugh (English politician)? Support a move per nom in any case. PC78 (talk) 12:15, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- @PC78: I am being a little pedantic, but John Pugh (English politician) is slightly ambiguous. John Pugh (of Mathafarn) (c.1675–1737) was MP for two Welsh constituencies (see History of Parliament), but in the English view Wales had essentially been abolished in the 16th century. The first two years of his political career were in the Parliament of England, so there are several ways in which John Pugh (of Mathafarn) could plausibly be labelled as an "English politician". However, "Liberal Democrat politician" is unambiguous. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 12:36, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- Technically you're right, but even if we had an article for the Welsh politician I think the most natural title for him would be John Pugh (Welsh politician) ("of Mathafarn" seems obscure to me), I don't think he would reasonably be labelled as "English". But I'm easy either way. PC78 (talk) 23:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

- Support as John Pugh (Liberal Democrat politician) or John Pugh (Liberal Democrat MP). I don't see benefit in John Pugh (English politician) as there is no English parliament. GregKaye 07:28, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose, I think we have a primary topic here. All the other John Pughs are stubs (and one is a redlink) and have far fewer incoming links than this one. It's not unreasonable to think that most people searching for 'John Pugh' will be searching for the living, active politician rather than one of the relatively minor dead historical ones. (Certainly he seems to be the main subject of a search for 'John Pugh' on Google, although I'm in the UK so my results page will be slanted in that direction.) Robofish (talk) 21:10, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose Whilst John Pugh isn't exactly the most high-profile member of the UK Parliament, the other John Pughs appear far more obscure. Of the others only the artist appears to be of anyl interest whatsoever, and I'm not sure "pictures reproduced on quite a few blogs" is a comparable in notability to being an elected member of a national legislature Dtellett (talk) 23:22, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
