GA review

[edit]
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

  1. The lead does not follow WP:LEAD in that is does not highlight all the major points of Kefalas' life. You might want to expand on the last sentence in the "2008 campaign" section, as it seems to have come right out of left field.
Lead expanded; if there are particular things that seem to be left out, let me know, and I'll work them in. I also tried to put the "community conversations" into the context of his campaign. - Sethant (talk) 22:03, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. It is factually acturate, but there were some problems with citations. First, cite numbers 6 and 7 have the authors names in the wrong positions. You do not need to specify all those that have the formats "html" as that is the default. In the "Early career" section, it briefly states Kefalas did not pay his taxes throughout the '80s and '90s as a means of protest. In my view, everyone should pay taxes and I imagine that was a big issue that should be more prominently highlighted. Here's from the source that was provided: "Local Democrat and House District 52 candidate John Kefalas acknowledged Wednesday he has selectively avoided paying federal taxes throughout the years in protest of United States military action. The longtime social activist and war protester didn't pay federal income taxes through the 1980s and part of the 1990s, and continues to avoid his federal telephone excise tax."
Names fixed in the references. I've expanded the paragraph to include discussion of both the adverse personal and political consequences stemming from his tax resistance. -- Sethant (talk) 22:03, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. It does a good job portraying Kefalas' life, so it is broad in its coverage of the subject.
  2. It is relatively NPOV, except for the taxes point (see above).
  3. It is stable.
  4. It is illustrated by a main image that is properly licensed.

Please address these matters soon and then leave a note here showing how they have been resolved. After 48 hours the article should be reviewed again. If these issues are not addressed within 7 days, the article may be failed without further notice. Thank you for your work so far. Best, Happyme22 (talk) 20:13, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
