Nickname

[edit]

When I search goodle for John Juanda nickname, the word luckbox hits once in the first 3 pages. When I search for John Juanda luckbox, I see a number of references to it being his online username, as well as some that have nothing to do with him being luckbox. I've never heard a broadcaster or seen a book that refers to Juanda as luckbox. Doctofunk 20:11, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What makes a nickname? That could be useless discussion for a month. He calls himself luckbox and it's a fairly common knowledge thing, including the publishing of his online name. If you don't think that merits inclusion, get rid of it. It isn't on his offical website, and there is no great need to include anybody's nickname in these articles. 2005 20:22, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In season 1, episode 4 of the Professional Poker Tour tv series the presenter clearly says "...John Juanda, whos nickname is 'Luckbox'..." (roughly 56 min, 20 sec into the episode). Therefore I enter the nickname 'Luckbox' to Johns infobox. Sandebert 19:35, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Pros Pro seems to be a made up nickname for John Juanda. Any objections on removing it? There is no source but it seems a lot of websites that are using it take their source from Wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by Strongsauce (talkcontribs) 23:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Johnson? Juanda

[edit]

Can anyone even cite a source for this. A source that didn't take its info from Wikipedia. Otherwise I am going to revert to John Juanda. Here is the edit made almost 2 years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Juanda&diff=18755058&oldid=17902546. No reason given by LinksPro nor is there a citation. Trips

[edit]

Does anyone honestly think the "trips" meme belongs here? It's not even on knowyourmeme, pretty much only known to commenters on Youtube poker videos. In any case, I'd say no matter how widespread it gets, it certainly doesn't belong at the head. Twin Bird (talk) 01:38, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, it most certainly doesn't belong here! I'm even doubting its relevance even if a reputable source exists. I'd need convincing, in any case. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 16:14, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a meme. It's one of the most memorable events of Juanda's career. It certainly belongs on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.41.94.222 (talk) 15:10, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's a meme; he said "I had trips" on TV once and for some reason people find it funny. It doesn't belong on this article. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 20:07, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why won't you people let the trips stay? If people come on here everyday to add it, don't you think it's important? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.41.94.222 (talk) 16:57, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No. Wikipedia doesn't work like that; having trips is not an accomplishment, there are no citations to the contrary and Juanda is not "known for it." The only thing persistence will do is cause the article to be semi-locked. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 20:00, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Got a source for that buddy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.41.94.222 (talk) 15:58, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Burden of proof is on you. Remember to adhere to WP:CITE. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 00:57, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would argue that the sheer number of edits on to the wikipedia page is proof enough that Mr. Johnson Juanda is indeed known for holding trips against Tony G's royal flush. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.41.94.222 (talk) 15:36, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That only goes to show you don't understand how editing on Wikipedia works. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 17:43, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Have you ever held trips against Tony G's Royal Flush? Didn't think so. As such you are not qualified to comment on this topic and I motion for Jimmy Wales to banish you from the internet forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.100.104.104 (talk) 23:09, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
