Thank You
[edit]I would like to thank those who expanded this article to what it is now. I actually did not think this article would last very long at first bcuase I had very little information about Kennedy Blvd to go by. But after reading the added insight about the road's history, I believe that this article will be around for a while. Kudos! Wslupecki 19:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC).
What's with the parentheses?
[edit]For those of you wondering why on earth I added Tampa, Florida in parentheses to the title of this article, I am unsure if there are any other highways within the US that are also named after John F. Kennedy even though the possibility is slim to none. Wslupecki 21:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC).
There's a John F. Kennedy Blvd. in Center City Philadelphia and I suspect numerous other roads/highways in the U.S. named after JFK. Tjfloyddc 17:30, 7 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tjfloyddc (talk • contribs)
Also, I think Grand Central Blvd didn't become Memorial Highway until after it crossed Dale Mabry Highway but I can't remember for certain re: this. Howard does seem too far east.Tjfloyddc 17:33, 7 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tjfloyddc (talk • contribs)
I noticed that at the intersection of Kennedy Blvd & Dale Mabry, new signs are going up (along with new traffic signals) which read "John F. Kennedy Blvd" rather than just "Kennedy Blvd". Wslupecki (talk) 19:17, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Dirt Road
[edit]Was Memorial Highway really a dirt road into the 50's? I seriously doubt it. I'm pretty sure it was paved to Oldsmar and past it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.48.41.67 (talk) 17:29, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I lived in Tampa in the 1950s and Memorial Highway was definitely paved. After a distance, maybe after it crossed Hillsborough, it was known as Gunn Highway and that road was also paved. My family used these roads many times. Tjfloyddc 17:28, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
