John 6:70 and the Council of the Twelve Elders of Israel
[edit]The ending verses of the chapter has been linked to the starting John 1:46 that highlights people of the land assigned to the Tribe of Judah, including the native place of Jesus, din't benefit of a good reputation among the toher Israelites. It makes reasonable to suppose Jesus didn't specify the name of the betrayer because his belonging tribe was preceded by an unmistakable fame.
But John 7:1 says Jesus, the prohetized Lion of Judah according to many Christian theologian, chose to stay far from that tribe and the related regione. This pertains the article, strenghtening the lectio the man of John 6:70 was of the tribe of Judah.
Judas is not told explicitly to belong to the Tribe of Judah and thus it was reclaled the interpretation of some Christian authors for which his future substistute Saint Mathtias would have born in the same tribe. It is founded on the continuity of the whole Nosaic Law as stated in Matthew 5:17–20 and particularly in the governing system of the Twelve Tribes of Israel ordered by God in Proverbs 15:30 and implemented in multile situations such as Numbers 13:1 and Numbers 1:1–15.
On the contrary, its numerosity seems not to be explicited in a somesort of biblical verse like "the twelve members of the Council of the Twelve Elders of the Tribe of Israel" met with the patriarch/king. But at the same tme a diffewrent number of elders isn't nowhere provided, apart the Twelve.Philosopher81sp (talk) 11:26, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Philosopher81sp, it is difficult to follow the reasoning here and in the final section of the article. However, it is worth noting that the Osservatore Romano article also notes that there is contradictory information (Ma le varie fonti si contraddicono) in the sources to which it refers. Are you aware of any additional sources which would help to verify or provide context for this material? BobKilcoyne (talk) 06:53, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
