Proposal for deletion

[edit]

I have proposed this article for deletion as I cannot find any official source for 'Minister for Loneliness'. It seems to be a position invented by the media. The press release refers only to 'ministerial lead on loneliness'.[1] This is essentially just a committee leader, something not normally worthy of a page, but if it was, it would be referred to by its official title. If an official source can be found for this title, I will remove the deletion tag myself. AJ2265 (talk) 11:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What about a moving this page to a more general title, like Commission on Loneliness or Loneliness in the United Kingdom? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:05, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We should take care not to pose loneliness in older people as a UK-specific phenomenon, though it appears the best studies may have been done there. It may be a reflection of the UK health system, for instance. It may be premature to decide where a globally applicable article would reside, so with what we have now I would suggest Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:35, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, the Loneliness in the United Kingdom article would include mention of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness and Minister for Loneliness, as well as other studies about the topic. No need to focus solely on older people. Even the loneliness article says, "In the UK research by Age UK shows half a million people more than 60 years old spend each day alone without social interaction and almost half a million more see and speak to no one for 5 or 6 days a week." Surely there are other statistics about loneliness in the UK. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:53, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I favour moving the page to Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness. The commission is a subject not currently covered by wikipedia, which ties together a number of different issues, and is well defined rather than vague. AJ2265 (talk) 11:21, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
