- ... that
after Eliška Krásnohorská retiredfrom 1912, Jindřiška Flajšhansovábecamewas the principal editor of Ženské listy, a Czech journal that became a women's "survival manual" during WW1? p 39: "Flajšhansová se tedy stala členkou výboru „Ženského výrobního spolku českého“ a poté co Krásnohorská kvůli zhoršujícímu se zdravotnímu stavu odešla z čela spolku, se 13. listopadu 1910 stala starostkou. Následně převzala po rásnohorské též funkci redaktorky „Ženských listů“. " and p 79: "Válka změnila přílohu Práce v jakousi příručku, jak nejlépe přežít." and ¶2: "Současně se od 40. ročníku 1912 ujala redakce Ženských listů. Snažila se dodat tomuto tradičnímu konzervativnímu ženskému periodiku moderní tvář"- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Oriental Hero
- Comment: I put "survival manual" in quotation marks because it didn't exactly tell you how to survive fighting (as could be inferred), but rather how to survive "everyday life" during the war.

- The hook is cited inline, and given that it's sourced to a Czech source I'm assuming good faith. However, I'm not convinced that the mention of Krásnohorská is necessary for hook interest purposes, so I'd suggest cutting out her mention and focusing on the "survival manual" aspects. I'd also suggest proposing additional options as, while the hook fact is okay, it's not spectacular. As for the article itself, it meets guidelines and a QPQ has been provided. - Narutolovehinata5 as women and children are typically ignored during war time because focus is on those away fighting, the fact that this women's journal told women how to survive the war is pretty awesome, but if you don't like it, you don't. What about:
- ALT1: ... that Czech teacher Jindřiška Flajšhansová advocated the use of braille in education and edited for the Czech Blind Press? p 37: "V rámci filantropie se zaměřovala především na pomoc nevidomým, konkrétně se angažovala ve vydávání tisku pro nevidomé a stala se dokonce místopředsedkyní „Českého slepeckého tisku“" and ¶2: "F. po narození dětí pracovala v Českém svazu slepců jako místopředsedkyně, zasloužila se především o výuku slepeckého písma a jeho využití při vzdělávání slepých a slabozrakých" SusunW (talk) 13:55, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- @LordPeterII: I think that's okay. Is it okay if I offer a suggestion? If you want, you can propose an alternative version of ALT0 that keeps the survival manual part but omits mentioning Krásnohorská since I can't decide if the survival manual or Braille angles are better. I'm thinking of approving both hook facts and leaving the final decision to the promoter. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:56, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SusunW: Re-ping due to a misspelling. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:57, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Narutolovehinata5 no worries, I am almost always a misspelling ;) See above for ALT0 modification and update to source for the date and that it was a woman's journal. SusunW (talk) 03:39, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SusunW: Sounds good. Should I wait for Peter to return or can I approve this now? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:43, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Narutolovehinata5 That's your call. If it meets the criteria I'd mark it GTG. It can always be changed up until and even after it appears on the front page. SusunW (talk) 13:05, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, I guess I'll wait a few more days for Peter to respond. If he doesn't respond by then I'll approve this. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:56, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5 and SusunW: Hey I'm back (sorry). Thanks to both of you! I'm fine with both the adjusted original hook and ALT1, so feel free to approve both. –LordPeterII (talk) 07:55, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

- Okay. I'm approving both ALT0 and ALT1. For the benefit of the promoter, I'm rewriting ALT0 below since the way it's written above can be confusing:
- ALT0 ... that from 1912, Jindřiška Flajšhansová was the principal editor of Ženské listy, a Czech journal that became a women's "survival manual" during WW1?
- I will leave the final choice in hook to the promoter. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 08:02, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Krásnohorská, who also founded the association and its journal, Ženské listy.
Ženské listy was launched as a supplement of Kvéty (1834 - ongoing) in 1872. However, a year later, Alois Skrejšovký decided to shut down the supplement due to economic reasons, prodding Karolina Svétlá to have the rights purchased for the association. Two years hence, in 1874, Krásnohorská would be appointed as the editor. TrangaBellam (talk) 07:19, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- TrangaBellam Thanks. I don't own the article nor do I speak Czech. If you have a source for the information you wrote above, please feel free to insert it and make any other corrections to the article that are sourced. Search engine results differ based on the location of the writer. Also cultural context is often missing from sources, so if one is not part of that culture, details may remain hidden. These factors make collaboration critical. Better yet, perhaps you could also write an article on the journal for en.WP? There are at least 5 articles that would link to it. If you don't want to do that, I am happy to make corrections if you provide me with the source you are seeing. SusunW (talk) 14:00, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
