Organization
I would like to work on the organization of the Jimmie Johnson page and add more about his record, what happened last season, and his crew. I started today, and I will be working on this again shortly. Chris Lindsey 17:08, Mar 30, 2005 (UTC)
What exactly needs to be done on this page??? A little help would be great. Chris Lindsey
- Well if you look on the To do list, you'll notice that this needs to be written in paragraph form. By that I mean that there should be a couple of paragraphs about his NEXTEL Cup career instead of the season-by-season summaries, as there really isn't enough info to warrent them. And if you can find more info about his early and background, that would be good as well. Hope this helps! --D-Day 12:24, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
This page receives way too much vandalism! - Nascar1996 00:12, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Article Format
the format of this article is horrible (along with most of the other nascar pages) you should have a look at the formula one articles cause they are really well strudcuted
Busch career source
A good (and looooong) article on his pre-Cup days driving for Herzog Motorsports: "Before Hendrick, there was Herzog Motorsports" Recury 17:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
lacking info
I noticed that Jimmie's wins top 5's and top 10's are not listed with his other info,(such as birth place, awards, etc.) like most other drivers. Shouldn't that be added? IloveIndy 22:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for adding that!!! IloveIndy 19:54, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Name
I reverted this edit because "jimmiejohnson.com" (the source given for the change) redirects to a website for team Lowe's Racing. It is not the official website for Johnson, but a site for the sponsor. Also, there is no mention of him being named after a family friend (which was mentioned in the edit I reverted) in that bio on the sponsor site, or anywhere that I could find. Caster23talk Contribs 18:08, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- The above revert was incorrect. The reference to jimmie-johnson.net is a simple fan site, with no official information. www.jimmiejohnson.com contains all official information it is irrelevant that the site is grouped with the Lowes racing site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.108.184.234 (talk) 02:26, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- www.jimmiejohnson.com is too broad for a source. Can you link to a specific page on that site that says his real name is Jimmie? Lots of people who are named James are called Jimmie. Caster23talk Contribs 02:41, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, no. While he has given the odd heads up during a television interview, I can't find one on the internet. I suggest you peruse the California brth records for verification (http://www.familytreelegends.com/records/calbirths?c=search&first=Jimmie&last=Johnson&spelling=Exact&4_year=1975&4_month=9&4_day=17&5=&7=&SubmitSearch.x=18&SubmitSearch.y=18) The link in parenthesis indicates one birth for a Jimmie on September 17, 1975, conveniently in San Diego. While no births are shown for James Johnson for the same date(http://www.familytreelegends.com/records/calbirths?c=search&first=James&last=Johnson&spelling=Exact&4_year=1975&4_month=9&4_day=17&5=&7=&SubmitSearch.x=0&SubmitSearch.y=0). While you may be of the opinion that www.jimmiejohnson.com is "too broad" it is very important that you do not link to unverified unsubstantiated "fan sites". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.108.184.234 (talk) 20:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply:
- I say its too broad because what you added in the hidden comment doesn't link to a specific page on that site that says this. And i asked for this because its too easy to say that his name is "this" or "that". But since most people who are called "Jimmie" or "Jimmy" are named "James", we need a source that says his name is "Jimmie".
- I did not add that "fan site" as a source. I reverted back to it.
Caster23talk Contribs 21:21, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- But, you can't go on the fact that just because of majority of people who go by Jimmie are infact named James, Johnson's first name is James. I would need a source stating that his name is, in fact, James. Not the other way around. Unless jimmie-johnson.net has a source, there is no difference in me making a website page, devoting it to Johnson, and clamming his real name is Bill. (If you can find it on jimmiejohnson.com, I believe it used to be an official website, until Lowe's decided to take it over.) Just my two cents. 24.95.33.170 (talk)
- Here's another take: I have just seen the edit page that indicates that Jimmie Kenneth Johnson is his real name and includes a source, as well as instructions that the name not be changed to "James." Yet I go to the site and sure enough it reads "James." Someone ignores the instruction. Unbelievable! I am acting for permission to change it back and include the source on the main page. Also, Jimmie did mention the source of the first name on an episode of NASCAR Nation in the spring of 2005. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 18:30, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi I tend to know ALOT of NASCAR driver's religion. Would I be able to put Johnson religion in the WIKIBOX?--Dominic Edward Aragon (talk) 04:33, 19 July 2008 (UTC) -no one wants to know about redneck nascar drivers religeion - they are all mormons arnt they
2008 Season Changes
I did a major clean-up of the 2008 Season section for several reasons:
- As I have seen discussed sometime before, only notable events throughout the season should be kept. This includes (or what I think includes) poles, wins, notable crashes, etc.
- Several different races' sections had poorly written sentences, and a few had problems relating to tense, etc.
- The way it was written did not include all the races, and, as a mentioned above, most of the races included were not notable at all.
- The 2008 section was extremely long, compared to other parts of the article.
This is the first time I've done some serious editing on Wikipedia in many, many months, so if I made some errors, please correct them.
Thanks! Caster23 talk contribs 01:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Career Stats/Poles
I have included NASCAR sites that reference 20 poles, and I have provided links to the definition of a pole position and an explanation about qualifying rainouts and whether poles are awarded for them. 152.7.31.118 (talk) 03:30, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- OK. Hard to tell when often news articles will say they are "awarded the pole due to rain". I also see that the career averages were calculated wrong originally, as they were the average of the seasonal averages instead of an overall career average. Only questioning now the 2002 average start, as nascar.com says 14.3. The two different sources have a different starting spot for the 2002 Pepsi 400: 29th39th. The latter one lists two people as starting 39th, so I think it should really be 29th (what nascar.com says). --Wean0r (talk) 04:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have changed the average start for 2002 to match nascar.com, and I have sent an error message in on the racing-reference.info site regarding the error in the data for that race. --Wean0r (talk) 04:38, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Small detail
I was reading through this article and i noticed the part at the bottom where it says Jimmie Johnson could join Dale Earnhardt, Ron Hornaday, richard petty and Gordon as the only to win 4+ championships. I wouldn't include Ron Hornaday there. No offense to him, but that would be like saying in baseball if someone won the world series for the 4th time and u include someone who won the world series of the minors 4+. They just don't belong in the same category. The competition in the truck series is no where near the cup series.Gforcebond (talk) 19:04, 16 November 2009 (UTC)You need to have Ron Hornaday because that sentence describe 4+ champs in nascar not just the sprint cup series.Nascar1996 (talk) 05:47, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

- The list of tracks where he has not won yet is borderline enough. There is no need to list all the races he has not won. --151.203.225.85 (talk) 11:07, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

I put those strikes on this page because those are no longer needed but I wanted to keep them just in case something happens.-Nascar1996 (talk) 03:53, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
