Talk: What is the stuff about BTDL and Paul Ackley —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.108.51.205 (talk) 23:10, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talk: Jimmer Fredette. I read about Jimmer Fredette twice in the college basketball preview of ESPN the Magazine. As the best player on a team that has a chance at competing in the NCAA tournament in March I thought that Jimmer Fredette would have a Wikipedia Page however he did not so I decided to create one myself using sources such as his BYU profile and his ESPN.com profile (Both reputable sources) I see no reason to delete a page of a person who anyone watching Mountain West Conference basketball has heard of.

Is he Mormon?66.232.73.40 (talk) 17:41, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Kansan (talk) 17:45, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Type of Guard

[edit]

He plays point guard, not shooting guard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.19.48.126 (talk) 18:01, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

His official profile mentions him as a shooting guard. A brief search on Google shows both, so I don't think it's really a problem...he could be considered either. ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 20:31, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He plays point guard every body knows that! His official profile mentions that he was one of the best shooting guards out of high school. He currently plays point guard at BYU and though you may think he plays like a shooting guard to say that he is officially a shooting guard is invalid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.112.3 (talk) 17:38, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really have a preference as to which he is, personally. I'm not even versed in the difference. I'm not going to be the one to change it simply because "everybody knows that", as there are plenty of sources going both ways (NY Times calls him a shooting guard, ESPN calls him both, ). BYU simply doesn't say one way or another other than in his past. If you feel strongly about it, you can change it. ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 20:59, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it to guard to accommodate both. —Eustress talk 17:18, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Jimmer worship"

[edit]

It's an amusing news story (what happened to that student's Facebook page), but does it really belong on his Wikipedia page? Kansan (talk) 17:45, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think that story is emblematic of a wider phenomenon that could be expanded upon here, and I think it only adds value here. —Eustress talk 00:41, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This entire entry reads like inappropriate worship of the guy. You'd think the guy were Wilt Chamberlain given the worshipful tone of the entry.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.141.152.197 (talk) 23:11, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Coming back to this 13 years later really shows you how badly his career went Sushidude21! (talk) 07:29, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NCAA records

[edit]

Found this template... may need to add Jimmer to some of the lists by season's end. —Eustress talk 17:37, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm all over it, trust me. Jrcla2 (talk) 16:04, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

time to move the photo to the top infobox?

[edit]

My suggestion would be to merge the awards/honors in the NBA infobox (like in Kemba Walker) and have a section for the records since the records are a bit much for one infobox. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 22:37, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My concern about merging infoboxes has been disorganizing information, pro vs. college, but I believe I have found a suitable way to do so using hide boxes. Regarding the picture, my gut feeling is to not put the BYU pic in the infobox since it does not correspond with his current position with the Kings (a free-use NBA pic should surface soon also). Cheers —Eustress talk 16:04, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the inobox merge you did. I also think we should wait for a photo... ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 23:49, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of awards, honors, and records in infobox

[edit]

Hello. Two editors have suggested edits (see diff 1, diff 2) removing information about Fredette's awards, honors, and records from the infobox, which was originally implemented to resolve placement issues discussed in the section immediately above. I think the current presentation is good because it provides a comprehensive listing of his major accomplishments nicely grouped, and packaged in a way (using dropdowns) that does not overburden the infobox. Thoughts? —Eustress talk 03:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. This is explicitly what made him notable (lots of 3s (long ones, too)), lots of points. Granted, the Pro section appears to be empty, so that could probably go (no accolades there at this point). ~Araignee (talkcontribs) 13:26, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update photograph of Jimmer Fredette to reflect Jersey of his new team, the Chicago Bulls. Aghadden (talk) 23:44, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Update the image with what replacement? A link to the replacement would be good (and if it is not a free image the "fair use rationale" will be needed as well). — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 02:17, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
