Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... it is original, written from scratch, has information about the subject's financial failures at two churches, the subject is notable, and he is listed in the "Wikipedia articles to be created" section. Billy Hathorn (talk) 11:59, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, original research would be a reason to delete it. But I don't think that's accurate.--14:42, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because if it is promotional, it's not very good. The article doesn't seem very flattering to me. I think it could be beefed up and made better, but it doesn't read like a promotion at all. --Paul McDonald (talk) 14:41, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

[edit]A blog source in the citation no longer exists and is a source three times. "New Day Church KC? Exposing Jerry Johnston". thenewdaychurchkc.com. Retrieved November 12, 2015. I plan to remove it and all information associated with it. Are there any objections to that? Joannahcrosby (talk) 15:27, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- No need. I have recovered the page from the internet archive and updated the cite. Regards Velella Velella Talk 16:01, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, Velella. Now that I have seen the source from the internet archive, it is very much one man's opinion on the living subject and is an unreliable source, without any citations for several libelous claims. It quite possibly violates the living persons biography guidelines or at least the reliable source rule. Is there any issue with removing it? Thanks. Joannahcrosby (talk) 20:53, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
- Almost all (all?) the sources used seem to be equally questionable. At present the article text is at odds with the sources. The article portrays a successful man of God, publishing books and expanding his church. The sources suggest a lack of financial transparency at best and possibly false accounting at worst. We cannot selectively cherry-pick the unflattering sources. That is tantamount to censorship. Jerry Johnson sounds an interesting person but Wikipedia needs a balanced view, warts and all. The current version is a rather fawning advertisement for the man. In answer to your question, I think the source should be kept unless you can fins a more reliable one that discuss the financial affairs of the Church in an honest and independent view. Velella Velella Talk 21:41, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
- That makes sense, and I agree! Thanks. Joannahcrosby (talk) 14:08, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
