Needs work

[edit]

This article needs some work. The transmission section should be of the same style as the engine lists in the article (per-generation). Consider putting the available engines and transmissions in the sidebar like other car articles like the Toyota Supra. --- Novous 14:00, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What the frell is quadralink? --Gbleem 22:16, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A trademarked name for the front suspension design solution. See List_of_Jeep_vehicles#XJ -- "the QuadraLink front suspension gave it excellent off-road ability" CZmarlin 17:54, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aquadralink is a 4 link system. This deals with things such as tie rods, stabalizers, and more. But a quadralink means 4 links put together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.27.138.36 (talk) 21:16, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What was the last year for the front vent window?

[edit]

Can anybody tell me when was the last year that you could get the vent windows in the front doors? AbcJones 14:36, 14 October 2007 (UTC)abcjones[reply]

I think they changed it with the new body styling in 1997. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.188.150.15 (talk) 18:39, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
1994 was the last year of the vent window —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.61.97.38 (talk) 23:29, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not thorough enough

[edit]

Compared with other pages, such as the Jeep Wrangler page, this page is sadly empty, missing such information as its yearly sales, its fuel tank size, et cetera. I don't know where to find this information in particular, but some information like this and more should be found and added to this page Woolfy123 (talk) 23:41, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"One of the greatest of all time?"

[edit]

In parts, the page appears more like a brochure than an encyclopaedia entry: "Its design has been noted as one of the greatest of all time." And so on. What about the vastly more capable Range Rover, or the Discovery (which was essentially its continuation when the Range Rover moved upmarket). The Cherokee was criticised for for its limited headroom and poor space usage. Perhaps a less breathless appraisal is called for? Arrivisto (talk) 09:39, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The entry that you quote is appropriately referenced. The lack of "sufficient headroom" is not a reason to overlook the numerous advances the XJ models introduced to the marketplace. So significant was the Jeep Cherokee that AMC introduced in 1983, that it established the models as benchmark in a new market segment that other automakers copied. It is also difficult to criticize the small XJ in its space usage compared to larger vehicles (for example, the Range Rover Discovery 1 that came out six years later and was about 14 inches (356 millimetres) taller and longer than the Cherokee, although riding on almost the same wheelbase). In short, the XJ's design and efficiency garnered awards as well as with record sales. These differentiating factors are all documented in this article. I hope this helps explain the facts in this article. CZmarlin (talk) 19:12, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
