Person vs Opera

[edit]

Would it be prudent to rename this page "Jean de Nivelle (opera)"? That would leave "Jean de Nivelle" free for the historical person: fr:Jean de Nivelle 90.222.67.50 (talk) 17:53, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it would be prudent 15:59, 24 December 2014‎ @Gorobay: moved page Talk:Jean de Nivelle (opera) to Talk:Jean de Nivelle: unnecessary disambiguation)
So now the byword is at Jean de Nivelle (1422-1477). Really not helpful. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:54, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To summarize, this page was created as "Jean de Nivelle (opera)" in 2010, presumably to leave "Jean de Nivelle" free for the historical person. In 2014 this page was moved to "Jean de Nivelle". In 2019 the page "Jean de Nivelle (1422-1477)" was created, referring to the person, not the opera. My intention in moving this page to "Jean de Nivelle (Opera)" was to leave "Jean de Nivelle" free for the article about the person. I'm not an experienced user, and it appears I did this "incorrectly". I contend that the logical title of this page is "Jean de Nivelle (opera)", its original title, and "Jean de Nivelle" should belong to the historical person, not a work of art about him. I'd appreciate any input from other editors, or help resolving the situation. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 15:45, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In ictu oculi, Jean-de-Nivelle & Gorobay. I understand why Gorobay moved it originally. At that time there was no other article. After the last move that I saw this page, Jean de Nivelle, remained as a redirect to Jean de Nivelle (Opera), which made the use of a disambiguation in the title not necessary. So I moved it back. I looked at moving Jean de Nivelle to Jean de Nivelle (opera) and then moving Jean de Nivelle (1422–1477) here. However, I wasn't sure if this was a Boston, Boston, Lincolnshire type of article. So is the man the main article or has the opera overshadowed him? Let me know and I'll fix them. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 22:10, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick response. French wikipedia uses "Jean de Nivelle" for the historical person and "Jean de Nivelle (opéra)" for the opera, so I think it makes sense to follow the same model here. If you could do the needful, I'd be grateful - then I can set about expanding "Jean de Nivelle" from the French article. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 23:40, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've already said that this article move should be reverted. Just put in a technical request at WP:RM to get it reverted. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:41, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can't do a reversion as the opera page should not be at Jean de Nivelle (Opera) and that would have left the person at Jean de Nivelle (1422–1477). Howver I moved this to (opera) and the (1422–1477) here. No need for technical requests. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 12:11, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work. Thank you. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 15:25, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
