[edit]I've added an image, from nndb, but as it is of Jean Shrimpton, from the 1960's, it's bound to have some copyright. I suspect that the nndb have violated the copyright of the photographer by using it. Have we done the same? kju 14:50, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
The Observer colour supplement 7 November 1965 in an article 'How Do Models Really Live' says JS was '24 yesterday', i.e. born 6 November 1941. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamsez (talk • contribs) 14:50, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
But was Jean Shrimpton born in 1941, was that article right ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheDaveClarkFiverDenis (talk • contribs) 03:20, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Current status?
[edit]I seem to recall reading somewhere that she no longer owned the hotel, or at least stopped running it.
I wonder what she looks like today at 65? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.154.147 (talk) 01:04, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
- She does still own the hotel - now managed by her son and his wife. There is a recent photo here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1352570/Confessions-fashionista-A-girl-leave-industry-industry-leaves-girl.html . Davidships (talk) 22:09, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]The picture of Jean Shrimpton at the Melbourne Cup is the stuff of fashion history. Why is it not here? Katana Geldar 09:30, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Copyright issues I presume.
- Besides, the photo of her in white mini dress was not taken on Cup day. The iconic pic you refer to was taken on Derby Day - 30 October. It was published in Melbourne newspapers on Monday 1 November 1965, the day before the Cup.

Actor?
[edit]According to the lede: "English model and actor. . .She starred alongside Paul Jones in the 1967 film Privilege."
That's it, no other mentions of acting. No elaboration of the film beyond that one sentence. Was it an unsuccessful lark in which she dabbled? (She's barely mentioned in the WP article on the film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privilege_(film).) If so, how can she be considered an actor? Are there reviews of her performance or more examples of projects to underscore the "actor" label? Otherwise, it's just an exaggeration, it seems to me.
I was a huge Shrimpton fan in the 1960s when I was a kid. Although Twiggy was very cute-ish, Shrimpton's beauty was much less gimmicky. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 22:42, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
