Transfer speculation
[edit]So far, nothing has been confirmed by Esteghlal F.C. or any other club, only speculation. Nekounam WILL STAY at CA Osasuna if he accepts a pay cut most likely.
For further data, please notice the last news in Osasuna's official website (see here http://www.osasuna.es/dev/actualidad/ultimasnoticias), nothing of the sorts referred to. Nekounam has not yet reported to training, but the motives are not clear and he has the club's permission. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:23, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Caps for Iran
[edit]Again at it? Let's go step by step:
1 - according to NFT.com, he has 146 caps and 36 goals as of the ending of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup; 2 - RSSSF says he has 144/37 but that's not counting said competition, so he should have 148/37 after the tournament (Iran played four games there, he played all those), and FIFA (according also to the RSSSF web) says two of those games are not to be counted, even though the Iranian FA does so, so there you have, he has 146 (148-2), not the 149 that several "users" are giving him!
I've altered the box, the only matter of discussion should now only be the goals, 36 or 37. Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:40, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Most sources seem to mention him with 151 caps now, regardless of FIFA'S -3. See. -Koppapa (talk) 17:29, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- There's considerable precedent for national associations' cap-counts overriding ideas of what FIFA's count might be. For instance, the RSSSF century of caps page notes that "In January 2001, FIFA deleted all matches against FIFA XI's or continental representations. However, most FAs (including those of Brazil, England, France and Italy) did not follow this ruling and keep the relevant matches in their records", and also mentions a similar attitude by Eastern European and Scandinavian FAs to FIFA's un-recognising of Olympic matches. According to all published sources I've ever seen, Bobby Charlton was for some years England's most-capped player, with 106. Except that one of those 106 was in a match that FIFA don't recognise: the FA Centenary Match against a Rest of the World XI in 1963.[1][2]
- A different case, but one that clearly shows we aren't bound by FIFA caps, is Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a member of UEFA but not of FIFA. According to FIFA, there were only two matches in Euro2016 qualifying Group D on 29 March: Scotland 6 Gibraltar 1 never happened... But we're affording notability to all Gibraltar players who've appeared in matches since their joining UEFA, and we're counting caps earned in matches played by and against them. We'd make ourselves look pretty silly if we didn't.
- If reliable sources are going with 151, as they seem to be, I'm not sure we can do otherwise. I'd agree the figure needs a footnote to explain the discrepancy. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:11, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your insight, cheers to both of you's. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:45, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
