Stats in football players' infoboxes
[edit]Hi, when you update the stats in football players' infoboxes please remember that you should also update the |pcupdate=
(or |ntupdate=
) parameter. This shows when the stats were last updated and prevents editors from accidentally updating the stats again. Thank you. --Jaellee (talk) 21:37, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

I7-860 (talk) 11:57, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
rsssf : "According to Iranian FA, Nekounam has 151 official games."
http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/century.html#caps
I'd like to see official citation from FIFA if it says otherwise.
Thank you MuyXmuy (talk) 07:24, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- I think I7-860 has a point and he explained it well in his aummaries, games against Denmark and the one in 2015 with endless replacements do not count, 149 is correct please. For quite a few months, the table rested peacefully, let's not start with this again please and let's concentrate on other articles. But, of course, I don't mind if the version with 151 caps is used, just as long as it is coherent in display (this one https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Javad_Nekounam&diff=687830584&oldid=684404197).
Thanks, happy editing. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 07:44, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
This is not the point whether it's OK with YOU to report it as 149 0r 151 !! Iranian FA, Varzesh3.com, 90tv.ir, etc. report 151 games, NOT fewer. If anyone claims otherwise, show official citation.

How many more links do you need ?!
MuyXmuy (talk) 10:15, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- OK, no problem, it stays 151. I just have reinstated the more tidy version, with the refs properly displayed and the note (which you have removed) at the bottom. I am not disrespecting you or your work (sorry for my previous summary), but please keep in mind some sites show him with 148 caps, not 151 (if you ask for sources, and this one is reliable in the football world http://www.national-football-teams.com/player/3215/Javad_Nekounam.html), so that note in the end is very much needed.
I think you will be satisfied with the current version. Good day --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:22, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
All the goals have references except goals : 1,2,3,4,30 ; i've done some research & found some links to be used as references for those goals. Furthermore, links that are being used as references for goals 10,11,12,19 are INCOMPLETE (they don't provide any specific information); why don't you click on these links before deciding to reverse the edit.
Thank you MuyXmuy (talk) 13:43, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I did not notice I had removed refs for other goals in that chart, sincerely, I am sorry. Now, please allow me to reinstate the rest (including the note below you have removed again), this has to be a teamwork, don't you agree? Thank you. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:49, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
More: please don't add the update template in the international caps chart, Nekounam has retired from international football, so no more updates are needed. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- As you can see, not only me thinking this way, User:Struway2, also a veteran of football-related edits at WP, has reinstated the hidden note below that reads " He has three additional caps awarded by the Iranian FA. Those matches are not considered full internationals by FIFA, who only counts 148.[3]". That is needed for coherence purposes, please. Also, if you note, now I have not removed anything you have inserted (I apologize again for removing the new references for goals), I only have composed it. Maybe this discussion, where Mr. Struway2 also participates, can be of help to you (please read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Javad_Nekounam).
Please, ask if you need help with anything at WP, I will kindly provide it. Sincerely, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:04, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for any misunderstandings, it looks good now :) Since Iranian FA & major Persian news outlets report 151 games, it's only appropriate to be on the same page with an asterisk (*). MuyXmuy (talk) 14:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Good box correction. Again, thanks and sorry for any inconvenience. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
You can count on me to not create any more problems in Mr. Nekounam's article. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for user I7-860 :( --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:11, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
I have provided many sites supporting my claim; these are 3 more sites which are supported by the government :
http://90tv.ir/news/81167/note
http://www.varzesh3.com/news/1232039/
http://www.isna.ir/fa/news/94011503091/
Most importantly, Iranian FA says Nekounam has 151 international games; who are we to say: NO, he does not ! OK, there is a discrepancy between Iranian FA report & FIFA's report & i acknowledge that. Therefore, some sites such as: http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/century.html#caps // write "151 games" with an asterisk(*) explaining: "3 matches are not considered official by FIFA but they are official for the Iranian FA." (exactly what we've done on Nekounam's WIKI page). However, he's adamant about changing it from 151 to 148 ! I wonder why ?!
I believe he I7-860 is a Persepolis FC & Ali Daei (all time goal-scorer (109) with 149 international games) fan who can not stand seeing anyone surpassing Ali Daei's record especially Nekounam who has played for Persepolis' archrival: Esteghlal albeit very briefly.
He's a nuisance and on the verge of being blocked.
MuyXmuy (talk) 23:13, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- A good place to report this guy would be here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football, click on NEW SECTION and file your report, I have already done it once, getting a bit fed up to be honest), I used the article's talk page to try and reach a consensus and thought everything was taken care of (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Javad_Nekounam), and now this happens. I guess your point about Ali Daei must be correct, some people just can't be "reached". Have a nice weekend (oh, and don't know if you are aware, but you have been mentioned here by Mr. 860 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Perspolis-ghermez#.D9.86.D8.B4.D8.B1_.D8.A7.D9.85.D8.A7.D8.B1_.DA.A9.D8.B0.D8.A8_.D8.AF.D8.B1_.D9.85.D9.82.D8.A7.D9.84.D9.87_.D8.A7.D9.86.DA.AF.D9.84.DB.8C.D8.B3.DB.8C_.D9.86.DA.A9.D9.88.D9.86.D8.A7.D9.85_.D9.88_.D8.AA.DB.8C.D9.85_.D9.85.D9.84.DB.8C_.D8.AA.D9.88.D8.B3.D8.B7_.DA.A9.D8.A7.D8.B1.D8.A8.D8.B1_MuyXmuy, I don't know if it's insults or praise because I don't know a word of Persian of course...) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:03, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
A friendly report and a polite question: 1 - user I7-860 has gone to another user's page to talk about you (here), I repeat I don't know any Persian, only noticed that you are being mentioned there, but he does seem to be up to no good; 2 - are you sure that those 15 games and three goals you inserted in Neko's page are not for all competitions? In the infobox, only league appearances/goals should be noted, not others (like the AFC Champions League for example). I also removed the ref because it looks very ugly in the infobox with all due respect, but since I believe you until further proof I left the stats at 15/3. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:19, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, after reading your summary better, understood, it's 12 in the Iranian League, 3 in the Hazfi Cup. So, the box should only read 12 OK? Trust me I know what I am doing, the other 3 should appear in the chart below. Out of respect for your work, I have reinstated the ref you added to the chart below. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:47, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
List of Iranian football transfers winter 2015–16
[edit]Hi
It should be right, because Rah Ahan Yazdan add a under-21 goalie from it's Academy (Link & Link), and as a rule each club can register 8 under-21 players.
they have 8 players in their list
1. Mohammad Hossein Babagoli
2. Meysam Joudaki
3. Amir Reza Nasr Azadani
4. Salar Lalani
5. Majid Hosseini
6. Ali Pazouki
7. Mohammad Reza Soleimani
8. Hamidreza Taherkhani
so for adding a new player in this quota, they should release one of them, and it's logical to release Salar Lalani from this list (according to stats and new comers)— Pedrum M. (talk) 19:00, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think it's better to wait for official announcement by IranLeague.ir in next days, now Fars news agency published another U21 release by Rah Ahan Yazdan, Amir Reza Nasr Azadani. (Link)— Pedrum M. (talk) 19:19, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi there again MXM,
glad to see your block was just a mistake. Now, regarding this player, and since you have done it several times, a tip: in the charts of statistics below (not the infobox), it's customary to link a league only once, it's enough. You can ask around to see that I am not misleading you.

Persian Gulf Pro League
[edit]Persian Gulf Pro League which is the highest level of football competition in Iran has changed names several times over the years.
1970-1972 : Tehran Local League
1972-1978 : Takht Jamshid Cup
1989-1990 : Qods League
1991-2001 : Azadegan League
2001-2006 : Iran Pro League
2006-2014 : Persian Gulf Cup
2014-.... : Persian Gulf Pro League
Moreover, the second-highest football competition in Iran is now called Azadegan League or (1st Division).
Furthermore, top football league in UAE (UAE Arabian Gulf League) has changed names several times, also.
1973-2007 : UAE Football League
2007-2013 : UAE Pro League
2013-.... : UAE Arabian Gulf League
MuyXmuy (talk) 00:42, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, I believe you 100%, several leagues in many countries keep changing name. But that is still no reason to create redirects (for example in very first season, if the competition was called Azadegan League and the current name is hidden, why call it "Iran Pro League" instead of the correct "Persian Gulf Pro League")? Don't worry, i'll wait for the other user's reply. In the meantime, if you want, you can leave a message there (here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Mattythewhite#Mediation). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:51, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by "the current name is hidden" ?!
When Javad Nekounam played for Pas F.C., the Iranian football league was called "Azadegan League" from 1998-2001 and it was called " Iran Pro League" from 2001-2006. When he played for Al-Wahda F.C. & Al-Sharjah SCC from 2005-2006, the UAE football league was called UAE Football League. When he played for Esteghlal F.C. from 2012-2014, the Iranian football league was called Persian Gulf Cup. When he played for Saipa F.C. from 2015-2016, the Iranian football league is now called Persian Gulf Pro League.
I believe we should NOT change history and name the leagues as they were identified as, not as they currently are.
MuyXmuy (talk) 01:11, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- By "current name", I meant name of league is currently Persian Gulf Pro League, no? So, I think the name written on the left (the one we cannot see, so I referred to it as "hidden") in the season he played for Pas should be "Persian Gulf Pro League" and not "Iran Pro League", am I wrong? But don't worry, out of respect for you I will not change anything back, let's hear what the other part as to say. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:32, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
The <hidden part> of "Azadegan League", when he played for Pas FC, could be "Persian Gulf Pro League"; i'm OK with that. My reason for adding "Iran Pro League" as a <hidden part> to "Azadegan League" link : Azadegan League is currently the second-highest football competition in Iran. When Nekounam played for Pas FC in "Azadegan League" (1998-2001), it was the top-level football competition in Iran. In Subsequent years (2001-2006), Azadegan League's (top-level) name was changed to Iran Pro League & 1st Division's (2nd level) name was changed to Azadegan League ! Iran Rivarly
[edit]If you actually take a look at Iran's versus games, you'll see that Iran has many rivals such as Australia, Japan all the way to team USA, yet only the long and close rivalries should be listed. Saudi's have the closest results when it comes to the one on one matches, so do the Koreans. but Iraq does not meet any of those requirements so please think about it a bit before taking further action. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pouya mh2 (talk • contribs) 06:42, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
First of all, i did not add that section; someone has done some work and has added a section which includes a link to another page (Iran–Iraq football rivalry). There is nothing wrong with the information provided; if you want it deleted, you MUST have legitimate reason.
What are the prerequisites for a matchup to be called a rivalry ? What's your definition of a rivalry ?
Iran vs Korea : 28 matches
Iran vs Iraq : 25 matches
Iran vs Japan : 18 matches
Iran vs Saudi Arabia : 14 matches
Iran vs Australia : 6 matches
Iran vs USA : 2 matches (one of which was a friendly)
According to you : Iran & Iraq which are neighbors and have played 25 close & heated games over the years, do not have a rivalry ! However, Iran & USA which are in 2 different hemispheres and have played ONLY 2 games (including a friendly) have a rivalry ?! lol
You must be confusing sports with politics !!!
Please refresh your info before making an asinine comment !
Thank you ... MuyXmuy (talk) 14:26, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
LISTEN, you don't seem as smart as you try so hard to present yourself. IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS!! A little reading on the background of Team Melli could give you a tiny bit of education.
Now Let me tell you what rivalry really is when it comes to football and this could vary in different competitions: Italy, Germany and Brazil are big rivals when it comes to World Cup because they have close results. Italy and Germany each have won the cup 4 times and Brazil 5 times.
Brazil and Argentina have a huge rivalry; 102 games was played with Brazil winning 39 times and Argentina winning 37 times along with 26 draws.
Just like AFC, Iran and Saudis have had head to head games about 14 games with no friendlies, out of those games Iran has won 5 games, Saudis 4 and the rest were ties. Japan and Australia have played 23 games total, with Japan winning 8 times and the Aussies winning 7 times and the rest being ties.
These are great examples of rivalry. It doesn't matter how many times two teams have played against each other, it's how close the results are.
Now like I said before if you wanna add Iraq go right ahead but make sure you add these rivalries as listed below as well to be fair.
Iran vs. Kuwait ---> 28 games with Iran winning 12 times and Kuwait winning 7 times (Technically when it comes to numbers Kuwaitis are our biggest rivals)
Iran vs. Syria ---> 24 games with Iran winning 14 times and Syria winning only once
Iran vs. China ---> 20 games with Iran winning 11 times and China winning 4 times
Iran vs. Qatar ---> 20 games with Iran winning 12 times and Qatar winning 3 times
Iran vs. N.Korea ---> 17 games with Iran winning 13 times and N.Korea winning 0 times
Iran vs. Bahrain ---> 16 games with Iran winning 7 times and Bahrain winning 4 times
Iran vs. Pakistan ---> 14 games with Iran winning 12 times and Pakistan winning only once (This one made me laugh)
Iran vs. Oman ---> 11 games with Iran winning 5 times and Oman winning 2 times
and vs Iraq ---> 25 games with Iran winning 14 times and Iraq winning 4 times
I rest my case here.
Pouya mh2 (talk) 12:59am, 11 March 2016 (PST)
"Iran & USA have a football rivalry" ! lol (They have played ONLY twice including a friendly)
Germany & Italy have a huge rivalry; however, Germany has NEVER beaten Italy in a tournament.
One of the biggest derbies in the world is the Cairo derby (Al Ahly SC vs Zamalek SC). Al-Ahly has beaten Zamalek 63 times versus only 35 wins for Zamalek. NUMBER OF WINS for a team is IRRELEVENT.
Definition of a RIVALRY : Rivalries stem from various sources. Simple geographic proximity as well as frequent meetings in important games can lead to rivalries. Social and political tensions can also be played out by proxy in a sports rivalry such as India–Pakistan cricket rivalry or Celtic–Rangers derby (the Old Firm derby).
Rest your case BLOCKHEAD !

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
