[edit]Can someone comment on the pronounciation of his name, please? -FZ 23:37, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
- "FF" (as in Welsh) is english "F", final "E" should be silent, so: Ford, just like the cars. -Michael
- As I understand it, two small f's is an archaic alternative to writing a capital F, so years back the name would have been spelt "Forde" or "fforde". However, the double f stuck and became part of the spelling of the name. Bondegezou 16:39, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, it's just the Welsh 'F'- in Welsh a single 'f' is pronounced as a 'v' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.12.182.108 (talk) 01:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Is it Welsh? If so, why is the final 'e' not pronounced? It looks 'posh English' to me. Zipperdeedoodah (talk) 17:55, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

What is a guerilla signing? Shouldn't there be a definition of this or a link to one? Chardir 12:35, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Just wondering... In various places in this page, it says that Fforde ammassed the 76 publisher rejections from novels other than The Eyre Affair, and then up the top, in the first two sections, it says that they were all for The Eyre Affair. WHich is correct? Frodo 11011 (talk) 08:09, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
The bibliography box at the bottom lists several works as fothcoming rather than forthcoming.
Expansion
[edit]This article, whilst containing information about Fforde's books, is lacking any detailed biographical information about Fforde himself. Chardir 09:11, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
weird question but does anyone know where he went to university or if infact he did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.106.13.182 (talk) 11:43, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
No reason to suggest he went to University. Should we expand Thursday Next as being a literary detective, she spends a lot of time with a desk job, a bellman? 78.149.234.193 (talk) 13:03, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
A huge gap between his first, post-school, job and his first novel 40 years later.

What the dumboozle does this have to do with Jasper Fforde? There is no reference that I can see to it in any of the text. AFAICS it should be removed - PaulWay (talk) 02:03, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
PaulWay (talk) 02:14, 2 July 2012 (UTC) - have just read a section of the book, which claims that Jasper Fforde was "clearly influenced" by music videos, as the colour scheme and car used in the illustration on the cover of "Well Of Lost Plots" vaguely resembles Janis Joplin's painted Porsche cabriolet. I think this claim is extremely far-fetched, personally - it's like claiming that Fforde was influenced by advertising from Dulux because of the illustrator's design of the cover of Shades of Grey. But, more relevantly, there is no reference given to the book in the article. I think this either needs to be clarified (by adding such a reference, with something backing it up other than "the authors claim), or removed.
PaulWay (talk) 02:23, 2 July 2012 (UTC) - Further research - reference was added by 93.222.218.137 on 12:11, 31 December 2010 - no citations, no other material. Has not been changed since. IP is in Deutche Telekom range. Self-promotion by authors of book?
- Removed. Rojomoke (talk) 06:06, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
Removing unwritten, unpublished "books".
[edit]I'm sure the author has good intentions about books that may or may not be published sometime in the future, but we can't list speculation as fact. The titles will have a happy home here when published. __ E L A Q U E A T E 16:05, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- So should we also strip out all references to the third Hobbit film? Or similar "work in progress". These have solid sources and mostly such work does appear. People want to know.--GwydionM (talk) 09:48, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- I removed them. His website lists publication of new books through 2016 and none of the ones mentioned from 2012 are slated for release. Maybe two years ago it was current information, but now it's clearly outdated. Compare to Clive Barker's page. No mention of the next two Abarat books that he keeps promising but have no publication date. Telstar2 (talk) 01:20, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
- I concur. Some of the sources provided don't even give a date now. Mention them elsewhere as planned sequels but not under Bibliography and certainly not with an unsourced year. --Echosmoke (talk) 00:46, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- Latest update from his website. Those books mentioned above? Not happening. The new ones mentioned are all labeled "hopefully" so they're probably not going to happen, or at least not when he's projecting them to. http://www.jasperfforde.com/special.html 2604:2000:1383:81A4:9D1:78B0:1D03:8148 (talk) 03:49, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
The man's father
[edit]The bit about his father's signature being on banknotes is an extra little detail that many of us like to find.
Surprising to find people here who seek excuses to rip out valid facts form the Wiki because maybe they'd not care. --GwydionM (talk) 16:28, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
