Naming problem

The IIHF home page doesn't have a team specifically called "Japan men's national under-18 ice hockey team" -- other than the acronym "Men U18". Also, the name of a team is a proper noun, and each word should be capitalized. Prburley (talk) 11:43, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Men U18" is just an abbreviation. It's the same as "Women U18" is an abbreviation for Japan women's national under-18 ice hockey team. I used the same naming conventions as the other national ice hockey teams.

These are better as articles then as lists. All of these articles can be expanded to include year-by-year results from the IIHF World U18 Championships. Article: that almost makes sense, except that a list of results sounds like a list. Does this team have a history? Home stadium/rink? Naming convention: doesn't make sense, but there's clearly a pattern. A team is a named entity, therefore a proper noun. Men U18 is not a generic group of under-18s playing hockey in Japan. E.g.: New Zealand Rugby Union Team (All Blacks), Buckshot Racing Team, etc.

I'll try to find the Japanese language equivalent to the team to add to the article. Prburley (talk) 19:18, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
