I mad some changes, notably: The Lords of Chaos is NOT a book about Black Metal but a book about satanic music in general, just with a very strong (and sensationalist) emphasis on the old Norwegian Black Metal scene. Religion

I read that he is a christian, which might come from the fact both his parents are (supposedly) devout christians. It also stated that he only plays in BM bands because he enjoys the music, and we all know about the Antestor situation (IMO this only futher fuels it). I've added some parts to the article but it needs more material. It was put as a drummer for Mayhem, and in 2005 session for Dimmu Borgir. Ceartinly there is more to say than that? If anybody has more info add it to the article. Death2 16:25, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I suppose he still is. Referring to the revert: The site I used as a source for my last edit says most interviews are not serious, and anyway, it does not necessarily apply to the interviewed person if the interviewer is drunken and sarcastic. The interview should be included again, maybe with a comment that the site owners pretend their interviews are, in most cases, not to be taken seriously. --132.187.3.26 (talk) 08:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Either way, doesn't it make it a highly suspect source for a piece of contentious information like this? I reckon it's probably violating WP:BLP. I have no opinion on whether Blomberg is likely to still hold racist views or not, but that webzine is very far from a reliable source. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 10:54, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

View on races should be removed

I think you could remove the part about his views on races. One of his fauvorite bands (Blasphemy) has a black person in it. Synen

I've seen listed on this page and the Ulver page that Hellhammer played drums on the song "Synen". Does anyone have a reference to this? Listen to the 3:43 mark, there is snare drum until 4:14. If you don't hear it then you have the wrong song or your speakers are broken. Karpsmom 14:37, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Whitewashing

I'm a bit confused why the quote from Lords of Chaos keeps getting removed. It is a factual reference, taken from a widely-available book. Whether the book is about satanic music or black metal is not relevant - he was interviewed, and made the statements. The sensationalistic nature of the book isn't relevant either - he was neither misquoted, nor taken out of context. It is extremely difficult to arrive at any other interpretation of his statements. Place of origin

I added Category:People from Hedmark since the article mentions him coming from Trysil. I left the Oslo category, however, the article doesn't clearly justify this. __meco 22:14, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Album cover as a substitute for a photo

Don't insert album covers into the article, because other users won't add their own photos (if they have any) since the article has a photo. And a good, free, unlicensed photo of the man himself is better than a low-quality album cover with 4 people on it. Bla bla. Death2 13:20, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Until somebody finds a photo of him that is free to be used, there is no reason the image of the album cover should stay. A picture of Jan with Mayhem on an album cover is better than no picture at all. Karpsmöm 03:38, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Equipment

http://www.teufelstomb.com/interviews/mayhem-1999/ features a lengthy interview with Blomberg talking about his drum set, never read any interview that precise. And the 2004 Mayhem album features a picture of his set with descriptions.
