Tagged as possible copyright infringement
[edit]I used cited quotations. In two sections, in describing Watson's theory of social geography and looking at his poetry, I quoted extensively because I didn't think shorter excerpts would give the sense as well -- one of those relied on the bookrags source.
If the quotations were too extensive, so that they go beyond fair use and infringe copyright, then I'll cut them back. If necessary, both those sections can be cut out.
I've rewritten the article,
[edit]cutting the entire poetry analysis section, and cutting back the social geography explanation by about half. There are still 7 dlb cites, but that is a clear minority.
I read the copyright complaint page,
[edit]and it says articles less than a week old should not be touched, to allow the authors time to correct them. So it looks like as author I am allowed to fix mine on my own. My guess is that the "Poetry" section I had, which was almost all DLB quotations, was the problem -- so I'm reposting a revised version without that section at all. I also cut back on the social geography, where I used a different source extensively. I hope it's OK. George Dance (talk) 21:51, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Tagged as quote farm
[edit]That's better than a copyright violation, I guess; but it means something still has to be done about the quotes. First, I cut all of the quotes from all the sections but "Social Geography" and "Poetry", replacing them with paraphrases. I kept the quotes in those two sections (where I think they belong, as those sections are primarily interpretive and evaluative). But I've cut the amount of the quoted material down by more than half in both sections.
I think this takes care of the problem, so I'm going to take the quote farm tag off. George Dance (talk) 19:32, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
