[edit]Hi,
I would be interested in any comments on this new page. In time I would propose to complement it with associated pages covering the Euphrates Expedition, the Mexico-Texan War at sea of the early 1840's including the Battle of Campeche, updates to the page on General Chesney and brief biographical entries for Cdr. Richard Cleaveland and Admiral E.P. Charlewood.
- It looks very comprehensive! I think, though, that at least some of the facts of Fitzjames's career should be sourced or cited from more than just the one book; using one book throughout could give the impression of partiality. There are also a few places throughout where the tone veers from neutrality to historical judgment; if these judgments are those of the author, they should be framed so ("Battersby believes" or some such), or else, if they are impartial facts, the language should be made more neutral and/or perhaps a reference source cited. I've added it to WikiProject Arctic -- hopefully some more hands will be aboard shortly! Clevelander96 (talk) 16:38, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Midshipman
[edit]the article repeatedly refers to the "unusual" way he became midshipman but then never actually explains what that way was? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C6:5397:8501:933:72A2:C492:F54 (talk) 16:39, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
Disappeared or died?
[edit]Now that his remains have been located, should the infobox show "died" instead of "disappeared"? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:21, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Can we delete the "character" section?
[edit]It's unsourced, biased, and just generally feels out-of-place. It's also odd to have something so subjective on a real person's page. Yonagoda (talk) 04:15, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
