Pronunciation

"The proper German pronunciation of the name was Fy-bel-man, the first syllable to rhyme with 'buy', but my father owned and operated a department store in New Orleans, and the French background of the customers led them to pronounce it to rhyme with 'seize' or 'receive', so father changed it to the French sound because, he said, the customer is always right."
