Deceased
[edit]Are you certain that Ramage died because of "congenital" heart failure? Is it possible that you meant "congestive" hear failure?
- So you looked up the source and it told you "the official cause of death was listed as 'congenital heart failure'" What did you do then? Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:32, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
I just learned from a retired admiral that RADM Ramage died in Coronado, California, on Saturday, 21 July, 2012 two days past his 96th birthday. I am unable to insert that information into the article matrix: the site will not accept the addition.

- I can insert it. Do you have a source? Hawkeye7 (talk) 10:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

- I think you could just remove the first sentence of the lead, " is a significant figure in the history of U.S. naval aviation. " as it sounds like editorializing and doesn't strongly establish his notability as the second sentence does. Try: "James D. "Jig Dog" Ramage (19 July 1916 – 21 July 2012) was a combat leader in World War II and a major factor in putting nuclear-capable aircraft aboard aircraft carriers. Before retirement he attained the rank of rear admiral."
- This was left over from the original before I expanded the article. Re-worded. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- "Japanese aircraft carrier Ryūhō" needs to be appropriately italicized in the lead, and again in the World War II section.
- Done. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- Flag officer should be linked in the last para of the lead.
- Done. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- "Only one Enterprise plane was lost in combat, although five more were lost operationally." -- It might be helpful to clarify what you mean by "operationally."
- Done. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- CINCPAC should be spelled out on first reference, and abbreviated after.
- Done. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- Any explination as to why the Jig Dog Ramage Award was discontinued after 2009?
- It hasn't been discontinued, but the records have become messy. Will attempt to clean it up. Hawkeye7 (talk) 17:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- I see you've added the 2011 one. Is that all that is available? —Ed!(talk) 12:25, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- I did a bit better than that, but am missing 2008. Hawkeye7 (talk) 18:35, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

- Dup links tool returns one result: aircraft carrier. Dab links and external links return no problems.
- There are no apparent issues with stability. The article is also amply illustrated by properly lisenced illustration.
- Placing the article on hold pending fixes. —Ed!(talk) 16:11, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
I think the award missing one year is fine for GA. Passing the article now. —Ed!(talk) 19:30, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
