GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
"best known as the singer of The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie"." - Reading this phrase, I first assumed that he covered the song, but then I realize that he was a member of the band. Perhaps reword to "best known for the song "Louie Louie" with The Kingsmen"
Changed to "Jack Ely (born September 11, 1943) is an American guitarist and singer, best known for singing The Kingsmen's version of "Louie Louie"." ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 14:05, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"Ken Ely died when he was five years old of polio of the spine, " Perhaps: Ken Ely died of spine polio when Jack was five years old,

"on April 6 at 10 AM the Kingsmen walked into the three-microphone recording studio. " - better place the date at the end
