Proper Name References

[edit]

His name is Izzat Ibrahim ad-Douri. Who wrote the original article? The author repeatedly refers to him as "Al-Douri" which is not his name (nor is it proper Arabic), but it refers to where he is from. The Iraqis do not have surnames; they utilise a sort of patronym, and therefore he should be properly referenced as Izzat or Mr. Izzat, but never as ad-Douri. Well actually "Addouri" (not Ad-Douri) is the way you say his name, "Al-Douri" is the way you would write it down on paper — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meppp (talkcontribs) 16:47, 1 October 2011 (UTC) Does anybody know the best way to upload pictures? I've done a couple however they keep getting deleted due to copyright, it's really frustrating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meppp (talkcontribs) 17:13, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is sad to see that even leprechauns are being lured into this violent extremism. May he be given a proper burial, with all his lucky charms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BCB6:ADF0:E498:AE1:BC69:211B (talk) 12:16, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Syria

[edit]

There are rumours that he's now the de facto leader of the Syrian opposition. 95.25.54.43 (talk) 15:14, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then those rumors are ridiculous. I've yet to see any evidence of any kind suggesting the Iraqi Ba'ath Party/JRTN is involved in any kind of major fashion in whats going on in Syria. MrPenguin20 (talk) 14:11, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is Izzat really dead?

[edit]

A reuters report said DNA test prove his dead ("Iraqi Shi'ite militia says DNA tests prove Saddam aide dead". Reuters.), but many people don't believe it. I think we should discuss here to avoid edit war. We just need the truth.--122.90.83.35 (talk) 16:15, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note: There are some picture of the corpse in this page. It looks really like Izzat, right? --122.90.83.35 (talk) 16:34, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@122.90.83.35 , in my opinion, the corpse is too massive. --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 16:40, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As the bottom of the page acknowledges, he put out an audio as leader of the Baath Party/JRTN denying his death and which referenced things that happened after it was reported. It was his voice and so he is conclusively *not* dead. So the page needs to be edited to reflect this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.244.81.55 (talk) 19:51, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

he just released a video april 7, which shows him very clearly alive — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.244.126.217 (talk) 16:10, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi fellow Wikipedians, Izzat may be alive still to this day according to this article ("سياسي عراقي يفجر مفاجأة ويلتقي بـ 'عزت الدوري' داخل العراق ويكشف عن مكانه الحقيقي". NRT News.), in which an Iraqi politician named Hassan Alawi claims that Izzat is in Kurdistan and is still alive. I will edit the article and add this mention in the "Iraqi Civil War and resurfacing" section of the article and therefore remove the date of his death.
