Unabled to ever win again?

[edit]

The statement about Basso effectively being unable to ever win another Grand Tour seems slightly skewed. At the time of his return, assuming he is banned, he would be only 33, whereas Jan Ullrich was considered a contender for the '06 Tour at nearly the same age and Armstrong's last Tour victory came near his 34th birthday. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.164.249.104 (talk) 02:39, July 24, 2006

Indeed, and now he'll be banned, as he confirmed his involvement in Operacion Puerte on april 7. So all those dopers, including Jan Ullrich, Floyd Landis and Ivan Basso, couldn't take the victory from a clean and fresh LA ? --Selach 18:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"For this period"

[edit]

Without the "for this period" the sentence

(all teams riding at the pro tour have agreed not to employ riders who are convicted of doping for this period)

is false. ProTour teams can emply riders convicted for doping after 4 years. This is probably clear in context, but the paranthesical remark should also be true in isolation.--Per Abrahamsen 08:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doping case reopened

[edit]

The doping-case against Basso is reopened. De italian olympic comittee has access to some new blood samples and Basso's blood wil be compared to those samples. He has to appear 2 May 2007. Sanctions are likely to ensue. I dont know anything about formatting so wont try to add that personally but it should be added.
