This is ridiculous, various kinds of Israel support for Hamas and/or the Islamist groups out of which it arose is well-known, related to the Israeli strategy of dividing and conquering Palestinian resistance. Hanamizu (talk) 03:58, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is also completely leading and inappropriate for there to be an "israeli support of hamas" article - it should be merged back into the article it originated from. Another option is to rename it "hamas relations with israel"
the purpose of the article appears to be to paint Israel as somehow culpable for Hamas atrocities. This is not worthy of a wikipedia article Jacker1968 (talk) 12:53, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean that you think that making a separate article 'overemphasizes' the topic, I hear you, but it's still a very important topic, partly because of how it relates to Israeli grand strategy. So, if you don't like it because you're afraid it 'demonizes' Israel, I gently ask you to live with that. Hanamizu (talk) 03:59, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I seem to have lost my ability to edit (not sure why). Also, the improvement would take more time than I have now. But here's the problem: Hamas was created in a meeting during the first few weeks of the first intifada, 1987, as the resistance arm of the Islamic Brotherhood in Palestine. So to say that Israeli support for Hamas goes back to the 1970s and 1980s is anachronistic. What is probably meant by the article footnoted is that Israel support for the Islamist group(s) out of which Hamas arose goes back to the 70s and 80s. Help, anyone? 75.164.38.161 (talk) 03:57, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
