Cleanup

[edit]

I've done a cleanup on this, rm'g lots of unsupported (and overstated) stuff about this being a "sister" film to THATM and that they were the first "disaster" and "airport" films and so on. These statements may have been original research and one would need two or three independent citations from reliable secondary sources to support those notions here, never mind give them so much weight. Continuity problems

[edit]

I just watched the movie and noted some continuity problems.

After the co-pilot freezes to death in a fetal position, the crew says a few words over the body covered in a sheet. The body, however, is as stiff - and as straight - as a board.

The large "X" the crew spelled out using branches has tire tracks leading to it from the woods side.

After the crew spells out "Lovett Dead" in the snow, the spotters do a fly-by and the message has magically disappeared.

Unless I missed something at the beginning, the exact date of the supposed event is unclear. What I'm getting at is the Corsairs are marked "United States Air Force", which was, of course, founded in Sept. 1947.

So this might, or might not... be a goof.

It never occurred to me that this movie took place during WWII as is described in the narrative. I always thought the flyers were supporting DEW Line or some other radar system construction in the Arctic. The narrative should be corrected unless original sources verify the time period. 66.58.207.124 (talk) 03:56, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How do they get home

[edit]

While the other crews find the downed plane and crew, there is no suggestion whatsoever of how the downed crew gets back to Presque Isle. Seven Pandas (talk) 21:04, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's a letter in the air dropped supplies that says, among other info, that they'll be rescued by "ski planes"
