Photo request
[edit]It'd be nice if someone in Christchurch could go and take a photo of the Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings. Any takers? Christiaan 21:35, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- I've done better than that and gone ahead and written an article. Schwede66 23:13, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Further work
[edit]- Yes, as now described in the article.
- Known in 1871 as Luck and Clark's building
- If yes, than that building is named for him. The source gives Mountfort as the architect, and the construction year as ca 1870, which is after their business partnership ended (so something doesn't square up, as it's unlikely that Mountfort designed a building for Luck, who could have done this himself, after their partnership ended).
- Ok, Luck owned the land, but left the country in 1867. So this could be why.
- Most of it was knocked down in 1973
- Part of the building was standing until the earthquakes
- It was one of the first sites to be bought by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority
- In fact, it was the first site that they bought
I'll look into this further. Schwede66 21:28, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll add indented answers to the above. Schwede66 19:47, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
