Controversy

Shouldn't her attitude controversy be mentioned somewhere? There were many sources that covered the issue: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/k-town/9471872/red-velvet-irene-apologizes-accusations-behavior https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/k-pop/news/article/3107345/how-irene-red-velvets-bullying-scandal-gives-insight-abuse https://www.msn.com/en-sg/lifestyle/lifestyle/how-irene-of-red-velvets-bullying-scandal-gives-insight-into-abuse-of-power-in-korean-society-not-just-k-pop/ar-BB1asHXi 106.70.7.120 (talk) 02:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Irene effect

@Artoflowkeylife and LowkeyEditor: I think that Irene effect is a word which is rarely used, not used often in Korean media and resources. There are only two of it. One is a blog, which is describing Hurricane Irene and second is topstarnews, which actually mentioned it. But if you carefully think about it, we cannot use the word which is not frequently used because it can be described as original research. I think those who used Irene effect found their word at Koreaboo, which perspective and contents are almost same as recent edits. So, this edits should be carefully reviewed and means it might not be neutral. -- Wendylove (talk) 00:20, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Here is the news, which is same as Artoflowkeylife, your opinion, and sorry about ping. -- Wendylove (talk) 00:26, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
@웬디러비: Hi! Apologies I'm only able to reply today. Thanks for the clarification and insistence for the more appropriate source. Thanks for sharing the koreaboo article as well (though rest assured I would never consider and use them as a reliable source). It's just I insisted at first because I've read about it before and Nuovo Shoes first used that term to recognize Irene's marketing power to sold out products or increase sales. Anyway, apparently since it's not as widely used, I understand not to put it any longer. Thank you! Happy editing! Artoflowkeylife (talk) 12:23, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Correct 한국어 to English Phonetic Translation

The English version of Irene's real name needs to be corrected. 현 Is ABSOLUTELY not translated as Hyun! ㅎ = "H" sound ㅕ = "yaw" sound ㄴ = "N" sound 현 = "Hyawn" often incorrectly represented as "Hyeon" by romanization. Romanization is horribly incorrect and causes communication disasters. Yet "Hyun" is just as bad. I would correct it, but as I've heard Wikipedia is presenting issues in creating new accounts. Every time I tried it gave me something else wrong rather than list all at once. So multiple times are required brewing frustration to just give up. Then when everything possible was addressed it started the list over. What, some editors think they are an elite club and no one else should get in? lol. Anyway 현 needs to be corrected to "Hyawn" for proper pronunciation. 174.251.193.8 (talk) 06:27, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Regardless of how it is pronounced, the correct romanization of 현 is "hyeon", see Revised Romanization of Korean#Vowel letters. This is commonly romanized as "hyun"; see the many names listed at Hyun (Korean name). I have never seen it romanised as "hyawn", ever. Alex (talk) 13:38, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Controversies

The prior version of the article included some wording that can be improved for neutrality, however the recent deletion of the entire content is not the perfect solution either and make the controversy sounds more negative than it is.

I will add the removed content back in a few days, and tone it down, if other editors have no objections in a few days. Thanks! --PeaceNT (talk) 04:26, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

I have attempted to address the undue weight BLP issue by rewriting the controversy section and thereby removing the tags. Hope this helps. --PeaceNT (talk) 00:37, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
