Misc

[edit]

There have been repeated edits to this article to suggest that the US government controls Internews content (in one way or another.) This certainly belongs in the article if true, but so far there has not been a citation to verify this statement. Please refrain from adding such statements if they cannot be referenced. I will begin fixing the biased edits in July 2019.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Theintern007 (talkcontribs) 15:57, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theintern007. A couple of things.
  1. Since you have declared that you are not only a COI editor but also a paid editor, you might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for reference. As ColinFine pointed out in his response to your Wikipedia Teahouse question, you should avoid directly editing the article yourself except for the cases given in WP:COIADVICE. It's very important to understand that this article is written about Internews, not for Internews, and that neither Internews nor anyone associated with it has any owenership rights or final editorial control over article content, and the fact that Internews has officially tasked you with editing the article seems to indicate that someone there might not fully understand this. Moreover, I can understand your desire to fix biased edits, but what Internews deems to be bias might not be how the Wikipedia community defines bias. So, if you think something should be changed the best thing to do is to follow WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement and give other editors a chance to assess the changes you want to make to see whether they are in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I will add a template to your user talk page about conflict-of-interest editing which contains some more links to pages you might find helpful.
  2. New talk page posts generally go at the bottom of the page. The easiest way to do this is to click on "New section". It's also a really good idea to WP:SIGN your posts to make it easier for others to know who posted what and when. My guess is that you wanted to post the {{Connected contributor (paid)}} template you added as the top of the page where it would be more easily seen. I cleaned up the top of the talk page a bit and put the template where it belongs and then moved your post to the bottom; templates like this typically get posted at the top before the table of contents so as them to prevent them from being archived by mistake.
If you have any further questions about COI editing, you can always ask for help at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. If you think there's biased content in the article and want some other editors to take a look at it, you can ask for help at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:18, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
