Needless title case
[edit]Why does the title phrase have capital rather than lower-case initial letters, as in international scientific vocabulary? Michael Hardy (talk) 00:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- A very fair question. The Merriam-Webster's Collegiate headword is title case, whereas the [Merriam-Webster's] Webster's Third New International headword is lowercase but with a usage note "Usage: usually capitalized I & S & V" (both refs per M-W web service). Despite the inertia of frequent usage, whereby people cap it because they've seen it capped before, it is hard to justify title case for this term for any good reason. I vote we do a page move. — ¾-10 03:22, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
